    Libby Fischer Hellmann

Libby Fischer Hellmann left a career in broadcast news in Washington, DC and moved to Chicago a long time ago, where she, naturally, began to write gritty crime fiction. She soon began writing historical fiction as well. Eighteen novels and twenty-five short stories later, she claims they’ll take her out of the Windy City feet first. She has been nominated for many awards in the mystery and crime writing community and has even won a few.
She has been a finalist twice for the Anthony and the Shamus; and four times for Foreword Magazine’s Book of the Year. She has also been nominated for the Agatha, the Daphne, and she won the Chicago Writers Association Book of the Year in 2021. She has won the IPPY, Foreword Magazine’s Indie Awards, and the Readers Choice Award multiple times.
Her latest novel, Max’s War: The Story of a Ritchie Boy, is the little known story of German Jewish immigrants to the US who escaped Hitler and joined the Army to fight Nazis.

A podcast that feels like making new friends

I started this series about two months ago (July 2023) and couldn’t stop listening. Julie made every interview feel like we were making new friends while learning about the author’s stories, too. I listened to every episode in about a month’s time. I love that i can keep listening since there are a constant stream of new authors to interview. If you love crime and learning about each author’s journey, I’d highly recommend taking a listen as soon as you have the chance.

Like having friends over for coffee!!

I am catching up on back episodes and I just have to say, the episode with Alexia Gordon was awesome!! I felt like I had friends over for coffee as you discussed so many topics. This podcast is wonderful; both entertaining and informative.

So informative

I listen to the SinC podcast every day during my walks. Sometimes I have to stop and write things down on my phone so I don’t forget before I get home. You have wonderful and informative guests.
Thank you for continuing to show struggling writers the path to writing and publishing.

Warmly,
Vonnie Kennedy
