063: Why Stepping Away From Ministry Is A Necessity Not A Luxury

063: Why Stepping Away From Ministry Is A Necessity Not A Luxury

The small church culture of burning people out for Jesus needs an overhaul. It’s not healthy and it’s not biblical. If it’s been a while since you’ve had a break - and maybe you don’t think it’s even possible - please listen in. And if you lead a team of volunteers, I implore you to lead the way by example. We need more healthy people in small churches. Exhaustion and burnout do not need to be part of serving. In fact, they are a sign of unhealth.

This episode is for if ...
you want to lead betteryou want permission to take a breakyou’re curious about what rhythms of rest could look likeyou think taking time off doesn’t fit into your story

061: Ministry "In The Middle" With Dee Bryce: Lessons Of Perseverance

061: Ministry "In The Middle" With Dee Bryce: Lessons Of Perseverance

Do you have a vision for your ministry?

If there’s a gap between where you are and where you want to be, you’re not alone. In fact, God designed it this way.

There’s always a middle part between a starting point and an end goal. Oftentimes in ministry, that “middle part” doesn’t go super-smoothly, as planned, or without obstacles.

As frustrating as it can be, there’s no way to leap that gap - and we shouldn’t want to. God does some of His deepest work in this “middle part” of ministry.

Can you imagine how different ministry would feel …
If quitting in the middle was never an option? If we knew for certain that God was preparing the way?If instead of crying “failure,” we figured out what God was doing, teaching, and revealing?Join the conversation with Dee Bryce of Olive Branch Community Church as she shares about God at work in the midst of a season when it seemed all their ministry dreams were being stripped away.

059: Close To Home: How Small Churches Can Make An Impact In Diaspora Missions | Special Guest Tim Rickel

059: Close To Home: How Small Churches Can Make An Impact In Diaspora Missions | Special Guest Tim Rickel

Diaspora (from the word “dispersed”) refers to people living outside their home country.

This term holds true for more people today than at any other time in history. From big to small, many cities worldwide are becoming international centers.

Whether relocation is forced (war, famine, natural disaster, political persecution, etc.) or voluntary (education, economics, career opportunity, etc.), leaving a homeland comes with incredible stress, difficult adjustment, and unanticipated needs.

Walking through our communities raises the question: Has the mission field come to us?

Listen in to a conversation with Tim Rickel, Lead Diaspora Project Director for World Gospel Mission, and hear about the opportunity small churches have for a cross-cultural ministry without ever leaving home.

Great resource for small churches

The Small Church Ministry Podcast is an amazing resource for anyone in a small church. Laurie’s strategies can be applied across the board - youth ministry, children’s ministry, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, and more! I love that every week is full of encouragement.
