Episode 153 - AI editing is stupid! (got your attention, didn't we)

    Hey there, AI-Snappers
Look, our industry is changing fast, largely due to developments in AI. Computers can now edit for us, and even cull for us! But is this a good thing? Is it ethical to have an AI system edit our photos? Is the quality the same? Listen in to hear our take on things. In this episode full of ranty goodness we also discuss Greg's coming storm-chasing adventure, heavy metal festivals, and how long after a wedding you should be delivering your photos.

Episode 152: Have you ever heard of a Wedding Content Creator?

Hey heeeey kids!!! Episode 152 is live and oooh it's a good ranty one! We speak about pricing - where is the balance between too many bookings at a low price and too few at a high price? We chat about a great way to send photos straight to the Photos app for easy social media uploading. Then we get to the meat of the bone about Content Creators... are they they annoying and intrusive or the next big opportunity?

Episode 151 - Thom hates film wedding photographers...

Ok listen... the cat's out of the bag - Thom can't stand film photos at a wedding. He lies down on the velvet chaise lounge and vents his frustrations - to a very receptive Greg who basically feels the same way. Also - the Canon R3... we tried one and have in depth comparison to Sony. Then, thanks to Myckenzie Russell we have myriad questions to answer from her awesome Facebook post! Oh hey and Paul Walker - hope you're feeling ok after the 'lovely' feedback on your questions about your website 😅

Episode 150 - Can you shoot a wedding with one camera body?

Wassssuppp!?!?!? Episode 150 is live - Thom and Greg talk gear today, as Greg is only a couple of months away from his next storm chasing trip. Thom has been scheming hard about having a single camera body at weddings - he's been eyeing up the Canon R3... We also touch on attracting your perfect clients and also helping clients have amazing weddings, without dictating or smothering them.

Episode 149 - Monitors, and how to make sure you get fed properly at a wedding

Episode 149 - Monitors, and how to make sure you get fed properly at a wedding

    Hey Snap family!

Listen, we all get hungry. Especially after standing and shooting for 6 hours. So it's supremely disappointing to find out our meal has been forgotten, or to receive a meal that isn't really filling. In Episode 149 we discuss our methods to make sure this never happens again!

Thom also has a new Apple Studio Display, and some new lights.

Episode 148 - Ok maybe we admit that B&W blurry photos aren't so bad

Episode 148 - Ok maybe we admit that B&W blurry photos aren't so bad

Hey snappers - where did the last eight weeks go? Well we’re recording today and we start off by getting into how terrible the weather has been in Auckland. What do you do when it’s a rainy day?
Then we chat about what it’s like to take inspiration from other people's photography, or whether you’re better off to stick to your own style.
And yeah the elephant in the room is how we kinda love blurry black-and-white photos now... after savagely mocking them a few episodes ago.
Then lastly we appreciate how good auto focus is on modern cameras and then there’s a little extra to about whether signwriting on a vehicle is actually any good?

How I Learned About Magpies lol

This podcast series is one of the most enjoyable - it feels like you’re listening in on a conversation with good friends. Although I’m based in the US and my focus isn’t wedding photography (although I have 2nd shot several weddings before), I find the material very fascinating and relatable. If you’re a professional full-time wedding photographer or just own a photography business, I imagine the information of the trade that they share is invaluable - sort of like participating in a message board of other wedding photography pros. The one takeaway I have from their podcast when I hear the stories of their dealings with clients that involve challenges, nightmares, heartwarming relationships, and/or funny incidents is this: despite being separated by country, culture, and accents, people are people everywhere.

Keep up the great job!

So raw. Much needed!

USA based wedding photographer here! Typically I prefer my podcasts straight to the point and I’m not a big fan of “waffling” as y’all say. However, the authenticity and humor in this banter has made it one of my favorites. I appreciate the dabbles of personal life (dogs vs cats), ideas of how to elevate the process (pros/cons of prints at weddings) and also the photographer banter (how to avoid guest tables at weddings.) Keep it up guys!

Stoked

Oddly enough, I have absolutely nothing to do with wedding photography. I shoot and film mostly BMX and skateboarding. I stumbled upon this podcast looking for reviews of the Sony A7iii; I’ve been hooked ever since. I not only love the knowledge that is put out, but also love the random tangents that occur. Thanks dudes 🤘🏼
