The Startup Mentality — with Flying Car Salesman Gonzalo Graham | Ep 005 Afterburner

    • Technology

This week we catch you up on the work the team is doing to get our first foam model in the air, and talk to Gonzalo Graham, the world's first and only flying car salesman about the future we have to look forward to as a generation of scrappy engineers who aren't afraid to innovate and iterate.

Gonzalo is also one of the advisors from Project Boom and would love to help other engineers along their journey.

We are a group of highly-motivated kids from all over the world facing more than one barrier. Cost, experience, time-zones, expectations - these are all barriers that will be broken.

The sound barrier is just the destination. This is the journey.

With over 150 students representing 65 universities in 15 countries on 5 continents, Project Boom was created with the goal of being the first student group to reach speeds in excess of Mach 1 with a jet-powered remote-controlled aircraft.

The Project Boom team will perform all initial flight tests of their high-speed vehicle sometime next year. The purpose of these flights is purely for research and will represent a first in aircraft manufacturing.

Project Boom's industry advisors include Lucien Junkin, NASA Space Exploration Vehicle Chief Engineer, Craig Damlo, Senior System Engineer at Blue Origin, Aldo Martinez, Multidicipline Engineer at Boeing, and Bryce Fong, Aeronautical Engineer at Lockheed Martin.

We are also thankful to have Gonzalo Graham, CEO of Watfly, Khushbu Patel, Engineer at Relativity Space, as well as the Hermeus team onboard as advisors.

Project Boom's industry partners include Solidworks and Siemens.
