I loved this podcast (I love all your podcasts!). I’ve started practicing what you suggested on repeating back in my head what the person is saying that I’m listening to. It really helps me be a more active, attentive listener and not be thinking about how I’m going to respond or how I can relate to it in my own experience. Instead I really “hear” what they’re saying and keep what they’re saying about them and not make it about me. Thank you for this helpful suggestion!
No more should-ing!
How often do we use the word “should” with ourselves and others? This discussion was enlightening. I considered the power of that word with both its judgmental and blaming properties. I’ve started practicing removing this little word from my vocabulary and rather choose and own my decisions. Great discussion! Thank you!
