As someone who is not an in depth classical listener it would be nice to have links or names of the pieces played in the episodes. I did enjoy this series very much
Essential History
22 sept.
I grew up in a household where Schoenberg was played at full volume. I met John Cage. I went to performances of classical music, gamelan ensembles and Taiko drum performances. Even so, I am not a music major ( I chose art) so listening to each episode has been a review of sorts, a re-discovery and in other ways, and a lot of new-to-me information. As a visual art educator, and a lover of well produced educational and captivating podcasts, I recommend this podcast. The scholarship, the samples, the stories and the chronology work together to paint a picture of the concerns of each era. Guy Jonas has a perfect speaking voice, tone and cadence for this endeavor. Did he write and produce this? What talent. Thank you for helping me fill in the gaps of my knowledge. From Clara Schubert to Radiohead! ❤️🌏
