Saying "No" is a critical leadership skill, and one that many leaders still struggle with. We all want to be seen as "team players" and good leaders, so it can be tempting to just say "Yes" to everything.

Think You Know What Your Team Wants? Think Again!
Have you ever fallen into the trap where you think you know what your team members want? And perhaps you've made assumptions based on your own experience and preferences.
In other words, you've assumed you know what your team members like, dislike or want to achieve in their careers, because you think they are just like you! This is a cognitive bias known as the "False Consensus" effect. Basically, this means in our head, we tell ourselves that other people are just like us.
Unfortunately, this can have a negative impact on the way we lead our teams. In this episode, I cover some of the bad things that can happen when we fall prey to this effect - and of course some of the ways we can try to avoid it in our teams!
