Forgive Me Father

When John first told me about his podcast, I was fired up for the feedback this would get. He touches on topics that need to be addressed, but in a way that doesn’t degrade church or God. I appreciate that he interviews others to get their views on certain topics and how they’ve overcome, and I’ve been inspired and challenged at the same time! Highly recommend!

I’ll be honest, I know John Adams and I love him completely. So I expected to appreciate this new adventure of his. Knowing him, I’m not at all surprised by his straight up truth telling about himself and his journey thus far. But I’m astounded by the rawness, the courage to share so deeply with anyone who cares to listen. I’m a lapsed church goer. I was baptized as an infant into the Episcopal church, my family was not an every Sunday kind of family. So it was no harm no foul to convert to Catholicism after getting married, that process took over a year and so was thoughtfully, intentionally done. When my kids were young we were an every Sunday family in our church community. They both received the age appropriate sacraments. John’s prologue has me thinking about what their takes on their paths with belief are. Neither attend church regularly, but I think the foundation is there. I’ve always been happy for them to attend other spiritual celebrations and question authority. I truly believe that Young Life and the spiritual family there saved my daughter’s life in high school. My son enjoyed attending the YA Baptist ministry when he first went to college and perhaps opened some brains that the Catholic boy could match them with his knowledge of scripture. To sum up, I look forward to having my mind expanded via #ForgiveMeFather and John’s discussions. This is perhaps one of the most important times in our history for making the effort to understand where our beliefs come from and where they’ll lead us. Unity, understanding, and compassion have never been in more demand.
