#77 Integrating into Family Farming: Beekeeping secrets with Claire Bennett

Welcome to 'The Ultimate Farm Wife'! 🌾 In this interview, is with Claire, one part of a multi-generational beekeeping family with deep roots in the industry. Their journey started in the 80s when her Mum and Dad began with just 10-20 beehives as a side project. Fast forward to 2007, they opened 'The Beekeepers Inn' retail outlet, and the business expanded to an impressive 12,000 hives. Although they faced a setback last year with 2,000 hives lost due to the Varroa incursion, they're holding strong still with 10,000. The family farming business thrives on diversification—a principle passed down by Mum and Dad to ensure resilience in tough seasons. Calire shared that each of her siblings plays a vital role in the business: Mark: Brewer of honey-based craft beers and honeymead; manages a café and wedding events. John: Runs Goldfields Honey Australia with Mum; focuses on honey production, pollination services, and beeswax products. Sam: Manufactures timber bee boxes and sells beekeeping supplies; co-manages the retail shop with me; works on varroa mite treatment distribution. Mum ("The Queen Bee"): Owner of several ventures, offering invaluable oversight and support. Scott (my husband): Handles work health and safety and oversees honey extraction. I’ve transitioned from wedding events to co-managing the retail shop and helping with varroa mite treatment distribution. Join me as I share stories, insights, and life as part of this incredible beekeeping legacy. 🐝✨ #Beekeeping #FamilyBusiness #SustainableFarming #TheBeekeepersInn"
