Addiction – Idolatry or Sin?
The Way Radio Podcast Episode 0111
Addiction - Idolatry or Sin?
It is common these days for Christians and Christian ministries to refer to addiction as idolatry. But is addiction idolatry - or is it sin? If labelling addiction as idolatry is in error, the question arises, “Why is there a reluctance to call it what it is in scripture – sin?”
With the importance of correct biblical theological definitions in mind, the purpose of this episode is to define addiction correctly from a biblical perspective.

Responses to the Gospel
The Way Radio Podcast Episode 0110
Responses to the Gospel
Sharing the gospel without compromise can obviously lead to winning souls for the kingdom and the edification of the saints. But it can also lead to confrontation, rejection, abuse, and persecution.
How do we approach the depravity of our society and those reveling in it?
How much should we tolerate when the gospel message we bring and we ourselves are rejected and scorned?

Stolen Worship and Praise
The Way Radio Episode 0109
Stolen Worship and Praise
In the much of the modern Church, recovery programs are looked to and relied on rather than looking to Christ and relying on Him and the power, authority, and sufficiency of His word. Through this, people are led into worshiping the idol of recovery, and praising programs rather than praising God.
Two devotions from Charles Spurgeon help to convey the power of Christ's healing power and the praise that arises from it.

Passing Through Babylon
The Way Radio Episode 0108
Passing Through Babylon
America now, seems similar to the apostate Church in the 1500s prior to the Protestant Reformation.
I believe what we see in the terrible events of this time is un-checked human nature on exhibit in all its vivid depravity.
Perversions as agendas beyond what any moral and sensible person would have imagined just a few years ago.
Outright rebellion against God celebrated and embraced as good and loving.
So how do we change course as individuals, as a Church, and as a country?

Comfort in Life and Death
The Way Radio Episode 0107
Comfort in Life and Death
As I mentioned in the last episode, I want to begin looking at the Heidelberg Catechism on this podcast and apply it not only to overcoming sins of addiction/alcoholism, but also to help us gain a greater understanding of the foundations of Christian doctrine. The catechism is easy to follow and is presented in an outlined form.
Today, I want to look at question 1 which provides a hint to the reason why people suffer in this life, become trapped in sin, and spend lifetimes searching for something that is only found in one place and in one person.

The Search for Comfort
The Way Radio Episode 0106
The Search for Comfort
I was contacted by two more people over the last week looking for a way for churches to reach those trapped in the sins of addiction/alcoholism.
All we need to reach anyone trapped in any sin is provided in God’s word in scripture – the message of the gospel by the power of the Holy Spirit.
For so long, Churches have accepted the false concept of addiction/alcoholism being diseases that must be treated from a mostly clinical approach, that they simply are unable to believe that we can reach any sinner in any sin through the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, through God’s word in scripture, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
People are drawn into habitual sin through a search for comfort that this world cannot provide. So, how do we find this true comfort?
