    ECW Arena with Trent Mabry

Oh my lanta it is another guest episode! Indiana's finest Trent Mabry joins me as we take a look at ECW Arena - the birthplace of American hardcore wrestling. I knew very, very little about wrestling so was fun to learn more about a slice of American culture so popular with balding men in their mid-30s.

Powerful

Finally a podcast under a half hour that discusses Philadelphia!!

They should make a sign about this dang podcast!

Not enough podcasts are 20-25 minutes long. Not enough podcasts are about Philadelphia. Not enough podcasts are just one guy kinda talking about history! Shane does a very fun job explaining philly’s classic clue historical signs, but the true treats are the episodes he does about stuff that SHOULD have a sign but doesn’t. I have sent the Allen Iverson TGI Friday’s one to MANY people.

A Cast of Yesterday’s Paw

Why listen to America’s shortest Philadelphia history podcast? Because it’s also its longest! Comedian Shane O’Connor presents lesser known stories of yore that made one of America’s oldest cities the rich tapestry of Americana and urban decay and renewal that it is today. He presents well researched storytelling with a boyhood charm, peppered with Gen Z aphorisms that even a boomer could understand. After a wise retooling of the title from “Hark, an Indication,” “There’s a Sign” delivers a quick Sunday mimosa that is light, sweet, and probably bad for you. Its author sets a fine rhythm that dances between the grisly birth of our country and pointers on dining out affordably, all while painting the narrator’s portrait as a gifted but haunted young mind finding its place in the world.
