#138 - BERSERK (1997)
Put your glasses on, nothing will be wrong! On this episode of the Third Impact Anime Podcast, we're reviewing the classic dark-fantasy anime series BERSERK, specifically the original 1997 adaptation by OLM covering the Golden Age Arc of the late Kentaro Miura's classic manga. Tobias, Austin, and Ryan are joined by frequent buddy and BERSERK super-fan, Will a.k.a. SwooshXBear, to talk about this incredibly influential and important series that we've never really talked about on the podcast before! Spoilers for the whole arc abound and do be aware that our conversation covers themes of violence, specifically sexual violence. Our convo is not crass but these themes do come up so listener discretion is advised.

#136 - Captain Harlock: Arcadia of My Youth (1982) & Remembering Leiji Matsumoto
Hoist your wine glasses towards the infinite sea of stars! On this episode, we are reviewing the 1982 space opera based on the iconic manga from Leiji Matsumoto, Space Pirate Captain Harlock: Arcadia of My Youth. The primary reason we're reviewing this is because back on February 13th, 2023, Leiji Matsumoto passed away at age 85. His manga are some of the most enduring and influential works of the medium, placing him up there with Tezuka and other greats. Sully had the chance to interview some scholars of his works back in 2021 (you can find those here) but we've never properly reviewed any of his works until now! We hope you enjoy our review and thanks to all the fine folks in our Discord who submitted their top 3 Matsumoto works lists!

A Grand Line Reborn | Cruise #03 - Defenders of Eorzea (and Alabasta)
Apologies for the delay in publishing this episode–Bill got invited to a dinner party in Ul’dah and had a hell of time getting out of there! After reviewing the end of the A Realm Reborn patches, we switch over to the first half of the Alabasta saga, as the Straw Hat gang enters the Grand Line and picks up two new crewmembers. No reindeer games await them, however, as they face off against Wapol of Drum Island, and Tobias gets ready to see what happens when they finally reach Vivi’s homeland.
