The Veterans Project - Telling the stories of those that truly are tougher than life!

His college baseball career was interrupted by a 9-month deployment to Iraq with the United States Army. After completing his service in the United States Army he finished his academic and athletic career including a Master’s where he realized his love for storytelling through the camera. Out of his love of country, passion for storytelling, and dedication to his military brothers - he has spawned projects that now help veterans and their families. His work has been featured and seen from around the world including the Sundance Film Festival. He is the founder of The Veterans Project, The Caregiver Project, and The Veterans Project Podcast. Over the past six years, Tim's traveled the world capturing the legacies of his fellow veterans and their families. The Veterans Project is a photographic essay not just for the warfighter, but for civilians as well. The project serves as a collective database, capturing the stories of veterans who have since returned home from World War Two, Korea, Vietnam, and the Global War on Terrorism. The goal of The Veterans Project is to capture the warfighter spirit, and establish an educational discourse for civilians who want to know what reintegration into polite society looks like. In Tim’s own words - “This project serves as an educational tool for all those who want it.  It is a visual essay of the warfighter at his/her most vulnerable point.  I can't describe how much it means when my brothers-in-arms let down their walls, and tell me their stories.  The project serves as a platform for each warfighter to express their own singular perspective. At the very least, I hope you gain a new understanding of what it means to fight and come back to a society that doesn't always seem so accepting. At the very most, I hope you gain a new appreciation for the men and women who put their lives on the line.  Maybe now, when you see that soldier in the airport sitting by himself on his way to land 5,000 miles away, you'll think of your son, brother, daughter, or sister.  Maybe it will stir some compassion within.  I hope this project can narrow the disconnect between our fighting force and the civilians they protect. I hope you enjoy The Veterans Project.” https://www.thevetsproject.com/tvp-podcast/the-meaning-of-memorial-day https://www.thevetsproject.com/ https://www.thevetsproject.com/podcast https://www.thevetsproject.com/contribute https://www.thevetsproject.com/the-blog https://www.thevetsproject.com/podcast https://www.instagram.com/theveteransproject/ https://www.facebook.com/thevetsproject/ https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-veterans-project-podcast/id1476947491

Jack Carr - don't just survive, Prevail!

Jack Carr spent 20 years as a Navy SEAL sniper. He led his teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, commanding Special Operations Task Units, and served as a platoon commander in the southern Philippines. Since leaving the military he has become a New York best selling author. Through his thrillers we get a look at military life, family, hunting, the outdoors, and fitness. He is a patriot, lover of freedom. But more than being an sniper, author, and outdoorsman he is a devoted loving husband and father. We dive into several tough topics including handling negativity and negative and sometimes personal reviews about his life and work. We dive into a few quotes and excerpts from his 4 novels along with his writing process. Jack shares how he remains authentic and true to himself and his core beliefs as well as how he prioritizes and executes to get things done and be his best self for his family and readers of his books. Jack really got me thinking when he talked about being a father and how negatives don’t always need to be turned into positives. But we can always make the best of each and every opportunity and situation. It is not just about survival but prevailing no matter what obstacles are in our path. Life is hard. If you stay with it and keep moving forwards you will prevail. Never quit. - Thomas Reese (Written and lived by Jack Carr) This was a great conversation. I hope you enjoy it and get as much out of as I did! Stay Humble! Be Hungry! Get Healthy! And always BE TOUGHER THAN LIFE!!! Cody Rich is a Healthy Hunter

CODY RICH Today's guest is truly obsessed with hunting. He once broke his back and when the doctor told him of the severity and long recovery process involved and that he may never walk again, his response was a simple yet determined “I don’t have time for that, hunting season is coming!” Cody Rich is a husband, father, hunter, podcaster, entrepreneur, outdoor educator, and adventure seeker. We dive into hunting and how being healthy is so vital to outdoorsmen. Cody shares great tips on being productive and prepared so that we can optimize and maximize our time in the outdoors. Growing up in Oregon he became obsessed with the great wapiti and is a certifiable elk hunting nut! As an entrepreneur, he has started several outdoor-focused companies to help others get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Through his writing and podcast, The Rich Outdoors, Cody shares great information that he has learned from others as well as the things he has learned through the school of hard knocks. Of all his accomplishments and talents I believe that he is truly blessed with an ability to share great information in a clear and concise way that explains and encourages others to get out and go after it. Similar to what we do here, he strives to motivate and inspire others to be better hunters, better outdoorsmen and will help to push you to that hunt of a lifetime.
