WE TALK TRADE TOOLS - UPGRADE and SAVE TIME (& Earn More Money)
082 | WE TALK TRADE TOOLS - UPGRADE and SAVE TIME (& Earn More Money) The Master and the Apprentice. In this week's episode of the Trade Legends Podcast we sit down with Chris and Gavin; 2 seasoned trade carpenters with over 50 years of joined experience in the Construction trade Industry. Chris, who trained up Gavin for the first 2 years of his carpentry apprenticeship, first qualified as a trade carpenter back in 1990 when trade tools were very different. Straight away, he set up his carpentry business "Chris Lowe Carpentry" before voyaging out into the great unknown world of carpentry. Some of his early jobs included kitchen fitting, general carpentry, exhibitions, shop fitting, and even working for the MOD doing their carpentry. Chris wanted to gain as much carpentry experience as he could, as he knew this would give him the best chance of becoming the respected and accomplished tradesman he knew he could be, and grow his business in the construction trade. But every Master needs an Apprentice... Gavin, like many others we've spoken to on the trade legends podcast, struggled at school. Rather than go on to A Levels, he decided to enrol onto a computer course, believing this was a field that would interest him. Oh how wrong he was. Upon completing the course, he changed direction completely and took up a carpentry apprenticeship to get into the construction trade, recalling his enjoyment for Design and Technology at school. Gavin was paired up with Chris almost immediately, where he would work side-by-side in the trade with him over the next 2 years. They would, however, part ways before Gavin's carpentry apprenticeship was completed. "Why?" I hear you ask... Well, you'll have to tune in! Chris and Gavin continue to work closely together, sharing ideas and tips regarding carpentry, jobs, trade tools, costs, tool theft, and pricing. Social Media is a vital tool in the fight to stay relevant, and Gavin has worked closely with Chris in teaching him the importance of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube. Chris is aware that at this stage in his life, it is vital that he stays up to date with the carpentry trade and construction industry. Too many people in his situation refuse to move with the times especially when it comes to trade tools - a mindset that often leaves them behind. The world of construction is continuously evolving, and it is vital that tradespeople don't get left behind. #construction #tools #apprentice
