For the most part, this is a cozy sci fi story—one to enjoy that brings joy and peace each week. The day to day activities aboard ship are interesting and the characters are interesting.

I can’t praise this highly enough. I was a Sailor, and Mr. Lowell’s description of life aboard ship (albeit in a different medium) is a perfect reflection of the triumphs, tragedies, and humor of those days. The story, setting, and characters could stand up to the Hornblower series easily, and might even earn a place beside Patrick O’Brien. Narration and music are excellent, too.
