Trailer: The Cloud Podcast The Cloud Podcast

    • Technology

The Cloud is a podcast by William Mapp, produced by Sabrina and William Mapp’s company Astrid Intermedia. The show airs in 7-episode seasons during the summer.
Technology is supposed to work for us. So, why do we work longer and harder after each technological leap? The Cloud answers this question by diving below the surface on technologies that make an impact on our lives. At the end of every episode, you’ll wonder if technology is truly the answer to our problems.
Each episode begins with a premise about a specific technology and explores if the technology delivers on its promises.

Transcript:
Will: Hello? Hello. Hey, what's up? What's up? What's up?
Sabrina: So you're doing this new show called The Cloud?
Will: Yes, the Cloud really excited about it. We're going to talk about whether or not any of this technology is legit. Yeah. Whether or not any of this stuff is hype or if it's really delivering.
Sabrina: Like what?
Will: You ever wondered what happened to smart cities? I've been to a smart city, and I can't get a smart city in my own country.
Sabrina: I do wonder what happened to it.
Will: Well, we're going to talk about that first.
Sabrina: Okay. What else?
Will: So, you know, you got Common out here on TV swinging AI. But how does AI impact communities of color? We're going to talk about that and talk about equitable AI.
Sabrina: You know what I want to know?
Will: What? What do you want to know?
Sabrina: So Crypto has crashed to the floor and people are still trying to hype it up. Is it a scam?
Will: Are you asking me?
Sabrina: Is it?
Will: Well, maybe not. If you weren't really in a crypto project, you're not going to get rich. Let's just say that. But there are some really good blockchain tech out there making these things work.
Sabrina: You know what else? It's 2022, and I still don't have a Rosie the robot cleaning up after me. What happened to that?
Will: You know what? They're actually on the way. Maybe in ten years. But it is harder to get that domestic bot than FINBOTS.
Sabrina: You know what? That doesn't surprise me. What about the future of health care?
Will: What about it?
Sabrina: I'm asking you.
Will: A lot of people have to come together to fix the health issue. Technology can't fix everything, but we can make good progress if people work together with the right tech.
Sabrina: All right. I know you have this thing about Stem.
Will: Yeah, I got a beef about Stem.
Sabrina: But you work in Stem. Your life is Stem.
Will: And all this programming on Stem is misguided. It's a family show. It's a family commercial. It's Misguided as AF. Steam is a better idea. I'll talk about that. And the button guy on that episode.
Sabrina: You know what else I want to know?
Will: What? What you want to know?
Sabrina: You know. When am I going to get my flying car?
Will: You know what? That's also closer than you think. I was at this party a couple of weeks ago and I was talking to this guy.
Sabrina: All right, save it for the show. Save it for the show. All right.
