    Today’s guest is Brian Heilman, Brian P. Heilman is an accomplished researcher and expert in the fields of gender equality, violence prevention, and men’s health. Over fifteen years of international leadership experience, he has spearheaded influential studies and reports that continue to influence policy, practice, and public understanding of these important issues.  Heilman was lead author of the inaugural “State of America’s Fathers” report (2016) and co-author of four biannual editions of the “State of the World’s Fathers” reports (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023). These reports have established him as a leading proponent of equal care work and engaged fatherhood.  Additionally, Heilman’s research has explored cultural and societal norms that shape masculinity today – and the broad implications of these norms – both in the U.S. and overseas. This includes survey development, data collection, quantitative analysis, and data visualization for influential U.S. focused studies such as “The Man Box” (2017) and “State of American Men” (2023). Since 2009, Heilman has also been a key figure in the International Men and Gender Equality Survey (IMAGES), a landmark project that has gathered responses from over 60,000 men and women across 50+ worldwide.     LISTENER DISCRETION: Sami Roth, Miss Butler County 2024 Tells Her Story Surrounding Sexual Assault, CPTSD, PNES, How EMDR Therapy Helped Her To Begin Healing & Starting Her 501c3 'Take A Stand'.

    Sami Roth is the current reigning Miss Butler County of PA and shares her story of sexual assault which lead to PNES; psychogenic non-epileptic seizures, diagnosed by a medical doctor. Per Wikipedia; also referred to as pseudoseizures, non-epileptic attack disorder, functional seizures, or dissociative seizures, are episodes resembling an epileptic seizure but without the characteristic electrical discharges associated with epilepsy. Examples of inside triggers are physical symptoms, emotions, thoughts, and memories. Examples of outside triggers include something picked up by the senses (sounds, smells, lights, etc.), or difficult experiences that are encountered. Also suffering from CPTSD; complex post-traumatic stress disorder Sami has worked hard through EMDR Therapy, the support of her family and friends an by starting her non-profit 'Take A Stand'.
