"Fear of Commitment " with Joe Sikorra (Special Podcast Highlight)

"Fear of Commitment " with Joe Sikorra (Special Podcast Highlight)

Are you afraid of commitment?  It’s a common struggle, affecting both men and women today. Whether it’s a hesitant date or a marriage that feels stuck, commitment fears can sneak in and create roadblocks.

    Meet Joe Sikorra

In this episode of "Trending with Timmerie," you'll hear from Joe Sikorra, a licensed marriage and family therapist and the author of "The Whole World Is Going Crazy But You Don't Have To." Joe’s wisdom is both profound and practical, blending faith and psychology to help navigate today’s chaotic world.

Here's a link to the whole episode!

    Understanding Fear of Commitment

Joe kicked off by explaining why commitment is so vital. It’s the bedrock of our relationships, key to happiness, and crucial for finding meaning. Yet, so many of us are shackled by fear. Let’s dive into why this happens:

Childhood Trauma: Did you grow up in a turbulent home? Experiences of neglect, abuse, or witnessing divorce can plant deep fears of trust and stability.

Self-Sabotage: Do you find yourself making excuses to avoid deepening relationships? This might be a sign of underlying fears.

Cultural Pressures: Today’s social media culture can make us feel like we need to be perfect, further fueling our fears.

    Recognizing the Signs

    Red Flags to Watch For:

Anxiety: Do you feel a sense of dread about getting close to someone?

Avoidance: Do you often cancel plans or avoid making them in the first place?

Self-Sabotage: Do you engage in behaviors that push people away, even if you don’t mean to?

Take a moment to ask yourself:

Do I feel nervous about getting closer to my partner or friends?

Do I often avoid deep conversations or commitments?

Can I trace these feelings back to something in my past?

    Healing and Moving Forward

    Therapy and Faith:

Therapy: Talking to a professional can help you understand and heal from past traumas.

Prayer and Faith: Building a deeper relationship with God can provide a sense of safety and trust.

    Steps You Can Take:

Reflect on Your Past: Consider how your childhood experiences might be affecting you now.

Seek Help: Therapy can offer tools and insights to overcome fears.

Nurture Your Faith: Engage in prayer and spiritual practices to build trust in God’s love.

    There’s Always Hope

Joe’s message is clear: No matter your past, healing is possible. By understanding the roots of your commitment fears and actively working to overcome them, you can build stronger, more fulfilling relationships. Remember, with faith and effort, you can break free from the chains of fear and embrace the joy of committed love.

Take a deep breath, and know that with understanding, therapy, and faith, you can overcome your fears and build the loving, committed relationships you deserve.

Compassionate Care for Women with Abortion Complications (Special Podcast Highlight)

Compassionate Care for Women with Abortion Complications (Special Podcast Highlight)

Dr. Ingrid Skop, a seasoned obstetrician and pro-life advocate, shared her experiences with the heartbreaking aftermath of abortions. Dr. Skop, who has delivered over 5,000 babies, offers a unique and compassionate perspective on the real-life consequences faced by women.

The Heartbreaking Aftermath of Abortion With a heavy heart, Dr. Skop reveals the severe complications women endure after abortions, especially with the rise of chemical abortions. She describes how women come to her in desperate need, suffering from heavy bleeding, infections, and requiring emergency surgery. It's not just statistics for her; it's about real women in pain, women who are often left alone to deal with the physical and emotional wreckage.

The Dark Side of Underreporting Dr. Skop uncovers a shocking truth: the FDA admits that 1 in 25 women will need emergency care after taking abortion drugs. But many of these cases are misdiagnosed as miscarriages due to the shame surrounding abortion. Dr. Skop speaks about the women who suffer in silence, feeling abandoned and betrayed by a system that promised them "safe and easy" solutions.

The Dangers of Mail-Order Abortions With genuine concern, Dr. Skop tells you about the alarming trend of mail-order abortion drugs. These medications, sent across state lines leave women to fend for themselves. She shares heartbreaking stories of women making multiple emergency room visits, bleeding and in pain, before they receive the care they need. This lack of oversight is truly a profound human tragedy.

The Truth Behind the Numbers Dr. Skop criticizes the abortion industry's manipulation of data. She talks about how pro-abortion studies often fail to track complications accurately, leaving many women's suffering unrecorded. The pro-life research she and her colleagues conduct is frequently censored, stifling the truth about the real dangers of abortion. It's a battle for transparency and honesty that she is determined to fight.

A Call for Real Compassion Reflecting on her decades in the field, Dr. Skop makes it clear that that abortion has been a devastating failure for women's health. She talks about the long-term consequences: the medical complications, the mental health issues, and the societal problems like fatherless children. With deep compassion, she calls for a reevaluation of this "failed experiment" and advocates for comprehensive support for women facing unplanned pregnancies. She believes in a world where both the mother and the child are cherished and supported.

Abortion is a path that leads to profound suffering and regret. Dr. Skop's heartfelt plea is to protect and cherish both the mother and the child, providing real support and hope for those facing unexpected pregnancies.

I love listening to your podcast and I follow you on X , I would love to hear you talk more about being catholic and other topics besides abortion all the time , I do understand the need to talk about abortion but I do think it’s a little much , thanks for you good work 😊

Meh at best…

I wish I could unlisten to this podcast for it has left me dumber from having heard it.

In general the podcast is Journalistically lacking the nuance and context required of a decent conversation.

A must listen for Men and Women

I am a 49 year old man with two daughters and I learn so much from Timmerie. Excellent relationship advice, dating, and even periods. I shared the March 3, 2023 episode Female Hacks with both of my daughters. All dads should listen to that episode. Thank you Timmerie and may God bless you and your family!
