Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution states that there shall be no religious test for holding any federal office.

Last year, President Biden nominated Attorney Adeel Mangi for a position as a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit. Attorney Mangi is 47 years old, a graduate of Harvard Law School and has had a distinguished career as an attorney who has provided legal services to the members of the Muslim community. The American Bar Association rated him as highly qualified and when his nomination was presented to the Senate Judiciary Committee

On paper he is the perfect nominee. But he was born in Pakistan and he is Muslim. And those are two things that Republicans have been using against him in an effort to keep him off the federal bench.
