Trophy
An actual play podcast for Trophy, a tabletop roleplaying game of dark fantasy and psychological horror..
Simple game with endless possibility

Trophy has been a system that I’ve been diving more and more into lately, as a breath of fresh air from D&D. This podcast really drives home how simple it is to play, but the flavor is so rich and memorable. I hope that this podcast continues to grow and create “How To” segments for all aspects of the game (Dark, Gold, Loom, etc.) and that they continue to periodically post actual plays. That is my number one way to learn how to play a new system, so it really helps me figure out the ins and outs of gameplay. Also ... what’s this Colossus that was teases recently? I look forward to learning more!
Great production of a brilliant game!

If you like dark fantasy, psychological horror and the reversal of “heroic adventurer” tropes, or even just good horror storytelling, check out Trophy. I’ve become a huge fan of its tone, accessible rules and collaborative nature between players and GM. This is a perfect introduction to Trophy, if you’ve heard about the game but wonder how it actually plays. It’s also a great example of how to GM, as the first episode demonstrates the setting of tone and expectations before taking the players on what’s likely to be a bleak adventure where terrible things happen to their characters. I really like how both the GM and players are building tension in the story - you know it’s going to keep getting darker but it’s a delightful journey.
