Good Coverage but Occasionally Unwilling to be Wrong
18 sept.
Let me preface by saying that I quite like this show and have been listening since the Lori Vallow trial. I appreciate how the hosts center the victims and their families and generally treat all involved with compassion. A recent incident however, rubbed me the wrong way. Having just listened to the most recent episode covering the case of a teenager accused of murder and attempted murder, one of the hosts used the term “anhedonia” to describe “inability to recognize mental illness in oneself”. When a listener in the chat named Ron disagreed on the definition, his response was treated quite dismissively - well, the host said, it’s how we define it in America, it’s how we define it in mental health, etc. I, an American with experience in the world of mental health, also thought anhedonia had a different definition (lack of ability to feel pleasure, hedonia as in hedonism) and did some research, and Ron was correct according to every resource I can find. The inability to recognize one’s own illness is anosognosia. A minor quibble, I suppose, but I found the tone used towards someone who supports the show to be quite unkind, and it’s given me pause about continuing to listen. Maybe it was just an off day for the host, but given that it is still bothering me a day later, I figured I’d comment in the hopes of engendering a more compassionate space for all involved.
Yall are getting Delphi wrong

The evidence is clear.
Huh, They’ve Gone Full Conspiracy

The bias on the Delphi trial is super disappointing. Started listening to this podcast during the Vallow/Daybell trials, but their coverage of Delphi is so bad. Can’t believe you’ve gone down the conspiracy rabbit hole; it’s QAnon-level stuff. Check out Hidden True Crime for neutral reporting on the case; you’ll hear the evidence and not the conspiracies.
