Lowe’s delivered 100 tiny homes for Hurricane Helene families in North Carolina, Seattle street preacher censored for Biblical speech, Cybertruck exploded in front of Trump Hotel in Las Vegas

It’s Friday, January 3rd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I’m Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Seattle street preacher censored for Biblical speech Being a street preacher is difficult work. But it’s a lot more difficult when violent activists are trying to shut you down—and when the local police aid them in silencing you, reports Alliance Defending Freedom. That’s what happened to Pastor Matthew Meinecke of Seattle. But thanks to the efforts of ADF, this evangelist is once again free to share the Gospel on his city’s streets. Meinecke has been publicly ministering in Seattle for years. He reads the Bible aloud and often holds signs and hands out literature. On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court rightly overturned Roe v. Wade. Pro-abortion demonstrators gathered in Seattle to protest the decision. Meinecke also attended the protest—not to speak about abortion however, but to read from the Bible and share the Gospel message. Not surprisingly, his message was not well received in Seattle. Protesters surrounded Meinecke, grabbed his Bible, and ripped pages out. As the demonstrators grew more aggressive, the street preacher took hold of a traffic sawhorse. Protesters then picked Meinecke up, along with the sawhorse, and dropped him on the pavement across the street. When Meinecke got up and began reading from the Scriptures again, protesters knocked him back down and took one of his shoes. When police officers finally arrived, they ordered Meinecke to leave. When he declined, they arrested him. Matthew Meinecke should not have been censored, much less arrested, for peacefully sharing his views in a public place. The First Amendment guarantees him, and every American, the rights of free speech and religious freedom, both of which he was exercising peacefully. So Meinecke, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom, filed a lawsuit against the city. While a federal district court sided with the city, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled that the actions of the officers, i.e., the city, presented a content-based burden on Meinecke’s expressive activity. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Cybertruck exploded in front of Trump Hotel in Las Vegas A Tesla Cybertruck exploded and burst into flames Wednesday morning at 8:40am just outside the entrance of Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, killing a soldier named Matthew Alan Livelsberger who was inside the vehicle and injuring several others standing nearby, reports NBC News.  It blew up after an improvised explosive was detonated in the truck's bed. Livelsberger, age 37, was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army’s elite special forces unit and a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Authorities said a military ID, a passport, and credit cards found at the scene were in Livelsberger's name, but that the body in the Cybertruck was “burned beyond recognition.” While investigators are still awaiting DNA or medical record confirmation of the body’s identity, other evidence indicated Livelsberger had died, including tattoos on the body’s stomach and arms. The body recovered from the Cybertruck sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head prior to the detonation of the vehicle. The suspicious blast is being investigated as a possible terrorist attack. The blast came hours after a driver in a rented pickup truck, who was flying an ISIS flag, plowed into New Year's Eve revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing at least 15 and injuring more than 30 others before he was shot dead by police. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill said that the pickup truck and the Tesla in the Las Vegas explosion were rented from the same online platform named Turo. Terrorist attack in New Orleans kills 10 and injures 35, Judge blocked Biden’s pro-abortion regulations, China builds world’s largest hydropower dam

It’s Thursday, January 2nd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I’m Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Muslim militants in Sudan, Africa attacked Christians during a prayer service on Monday, wounding 14 believers. Nearly 200 Christians of the Sudanese Church of Christ were praying and fasting for an end to the military conflict in the Northeast African nation. A local Christian told Morning Star News the believers “have attempted to flee the area several times, but they were prevented by [the militants].” The attackers were part of the Islamist Rapid Support Forces. The paramilitary group has been fighting another Islamist group, the Sudanese Armed Forces, for control of the country since last year. Sudan is ranked 8th on the Open Doors’ World Watch List of nations where it is most dangerous to be a Christian. In Matthew 5:44, Jesus said, “Love your enemies. Bless those who curse you. Do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” China builds world’s largest hydropower dam China recently approved construction on what will be the world’s largest hydropower dam.  It will be located on the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet. Once complete, the massive dam is projected to produce as much as 300 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. That’s more than triple the capacity of the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s current largest dam also located in China. China is on track to add twice as much solar and wind power production as the rest of the world combined. Terrorist attack in New Orleans kills 10 and injures 35 Tragically in the United States, 10 people died and 35 sustained injuries after an attacker drove a pickup truck into a crowd yesterday morning in New Orleans. The attack took place on Bourbon Street during New Year’s celebrations.  The suspect died during a shootout with law enforcement. The vehicle used in the attack had an ISIS flag on the trailer hitch. Officials report the vehicle had crossed the border from Mexico into Texas in November, although the driver at the time does not appear to be the same as the attacker. The attacker has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen who lived in Texas, reports The Epoch Times. The FBI is investigating the incident as an act of terror. U.S. homelessness up 18% Homelessness increased 18% last year, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. A report from the department found there were 771,480 homeless people in the U.S. in January 2024. That’s up from 653,104 in 2023, and the largest number since 2005. Illegal immigration contributed to these historic numbers as well as natural disasters and the lack of affordable housing. Judge blocked Biden’s pro-abortion regulations Last week, a federal judge blocked new pro-abortion regulations from the Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services. The new regulations would have silenced health care professionals from reporting abuse related to the harms of abortion as well as transgender drugs and surgeries. Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “Doctors take an oath to ‘do no harm’ and should be able to report abuse to protect patients. … This unlawful rule change is just another political attempt to undermine state laws that protect against harmful abortion and dangerous gender ideology.” S&P 500 grew 23% in 2024 after growing 24% in 2023 The U.S. stock market closed lower on Tuesday to round out 2024. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 5% and the S&P 500 slid 2.5% last month. However, for the year, the S&P 500 grew by 23%, after growing 24% in 2023. It’s New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1st, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I’m Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Gunmen killed Columbian pastor and two family members Armed gunmen killed a Protestant pastor and two of his family members in northern Colombia on Sunday. The attackers killed Pastor Marlon Lora, his wife Yorley Rincon, and his daughter Ángela. His son Santiago was severely injured. The family was having lunch after attending church. Pastor Lora led the Prince of Peace Villaparaguay Church and oversaw 35 urban and rural churches.  The South American country’s human rights office has warned of the rise of religious freedom violations against religious leaders. Such incidents rose 31% between January and September of last year. Anna Lee Stangl with Christian Solidarity Worldwide said, “Despite the grave dangers faced by religious leaders, the Colombian government has stripped them of their status within the National Protection System. … We urge the government to … ensure protection for religious leaders, who remain at risk of violence and intimidation because of their role as peacemakers in their communities.” In Matthew 5:9, Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Brazilian government censors pro-life speech Five lawmakers in Brazil are challenging their government before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. The lawmakers accuse the government of censoring pro-life speech during the South American country’s 2022 election cycle.  Senator Eduardo Girão is one of the lawmakers in the case. He warned, “Brazil is facing a very serious censorship problem. While our constitution protects our rights to speak and express ourselves freely as citizens of Brazil, Brazilians throughout the country are afraid to share their beliefs for fear of persecution and punishment.” World population hits 8 billion The U.S. Census Bureau released a report on Monday, estimating the world’s population to reach 8.09 billion people. That would be an increase of 71 million people during 2024, a growth rate of just under one percent. India is the most populated country in the world followed by China and the United States. The report estimates the U.S. population to be over 341 million today, an increase of 2.6 million people during 2024. Trump strongly endorses House Speaker Mike Johnson to stay in leadership President-elect Donald Trump supported Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson to continue his leadership role in Congress. In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump wrote, “Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement.” The House of Representatives will vote on a speaker this Friday. However, not all Republicans support Johnson to continue in the position, citing too much cooperation with Democrats. Free speech on college campus under attack in 2024 The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression reports 2024 was the worst year on record for free speech on college campuses. During 2023, there were over 150 attempts to cancel speech at colleges like disinviting speakers, canceling performances, and preventing the screening of films. This year, there were over 160 such attempts.  The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression also reports that 35% of faculty at major colleges self-censor their own speech. That’s up from about 9% in the 1950s. 8 encouraging trends in global Christianity for 2024 Lifeway Research shared their top 10 articles from last year. One of them was an article entitled, “8 Encouraging Trends in Global Christianity for 2024.” The study noted Christianity is expected to continue growing, reaching 2.63 billion people last year. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Nigerian Muslims killed 14 Christians in Jos State There’s been another attack on Christians in Jos State, Nigeria. This time it resulted in the deaths of 14, including a pregnant woman and a 1-year-old girl.   The assault came shortly after a Christmas carol service at the Evangelical Church Winning All.  Since 2016, 2,000 Christians have been killed by the Fulani Muslims in the area, according to International Christian Concern. China’s growing military capability The Pentagon’s annual report on China’s military notes that the communist country will have about 700 nuclear warheads in 2025. It’s target is 1,500 nuclear warheads by 2035. China has also beefed up its Navy with an estimated 395 battle force ships in operation by 2025, including 65 submarines. The nation is actively building more ships and expects to have an estimated 435 ships by 2030, including 80 submarines.  In the last decade, China launched 23 destroyers to America’s 11 destroyers.  Back in 2005, China’s Navy was about 1.5% of the U.S. Navy in capacity.  Twenty years later, China’s Navy has achieved over 50% of the capacity of the U.S. Navy.  Biden gives Ukraine another $6 billion for defense The Biden administration has released another $6 billion in funding for Ukraine to defend itself in the present war with Russia. This brings the total American support for the war since 2022 to $70 billion, reports Reuters. Overall, America has given $106 billion in total aid to the country. Before the war, Ukraine’s annual military budget was just $5-$7 billion. Two homosexual men sexually assaulted boys they adopted Two homosexual men who adopted two young boys through a now defunct Christian adoption agency have both been sentenced bv a Georgia court to 100 years in prison for unspeakable crimes committed against the children, as described in Leviticus 18 and 20. The convicted abusers, Zachary and William Zulock, were homosexual activists in the Atlanta, Georgia area.  A full 21% of homosexuals living in sinful relationships have adopted children. The Mark Regnerus study conducted in 2012 found that 8% of children raised in homosexual homes are victims of incest. Also, keep in mind Bethany Christian Services announced they would place children for adoption into homosexual homes back in 2021, reports Christianity Today. Hebrews 13:4 reminds us that “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” Trump’s alleged rape victim might receive financial compensation The Second Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a lower court judgment which had awarded E. Jean Carroll $5 million in damages in a suit against President-elect Donald Trump for an alleged rape, reports NBC News. A separate jury has also awarded Carroll $83 million for a defamation suit against Trump. In-N-Out Burger president unapologetically Christian And finally, the popular burger joint, In-N-Out, is run by President and CEO Lynsi Snyder who inherited the business when she was just 17 years old.   She told PragerU’s Marissa Streit that she has had to rely on God to carry her through. She says that she has chosen some of the Bible verses on the cups and paper-ware used by the fast food restaurant. When facing persecution, Snyder said this. SNYDER: “Defending myself and trying to get into that, I just had to lay it down a long time ago. And you know, being a Christian and accepting that persecution, it’s like I’ve doubled down on people judging me.” Snyder, now 42, noted that God’s Word says that followers of Jesus can expect persecution. SNYDER: “I mean, it says in the Good Book, that as soon as you align yourself with Jesus, and, you know, go by God’s Word, it’s like you’re making enemies, you know. And so, there’s goi

(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Attacks on Christians in India during Christmas A spate of violent attacks marred the 2024 Christmas celebrations across India despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi extolling the virtues of love and harmony taught by Jesus Christ in his Christmas speech, reports International Christian Concern. Prime Minister Modi belongs to the pro-Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party, which is currently ruling the country. Still, he attended the Christmas celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops Conference of India in New Delhi. During the function, Modi gave a speech stressing the importance of strengthening the spirit of love, harmony, and brotherhood in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ. MODI: “The teachings of Lord Christ, celebrate love, harmony and brotherhood. It is important that we all work to make the spirit stronger.” He also greeted the people during Christmas on X, posting photos and videos of himself attending the Catholic Christmas event. However, this did not deter many pro-Hindu groups from disrupting the Christmas celebrations in churches, schools, public places, and even people’s homes. In many cases, Hindu nationalists acted brazenly despite the presence of police. 179 dead in South Korean airplane crash At least 179 people are feared dead after a plane carrying 181 passengers skidded off a runway as it landed and smashed into a wall at a South Korean airport, reports CNN. The tail of the plane was the only part that appeared to remain intact as flames engulfed the aircraft, sending a plume of black smoke into the air, according to NBC News. The Jeju Air flight was returning from Bangkok when the horror unfolded at Muan International Airport in South Korea, located 180 miles south of Seoul. South Korea's emergency office said the jet's landing gear appeared to have malfunctioned with a bird striking the aircraft among the theories that could have possibly caused the crash.  There were wails in the airport's arrivals hall as families wept loudly when a medic announced the names of 22 dead passengers. Canadian pastor sentenced on December 23; Ministry distributes Bibles in Ukraine; Chaos at airport in Phoenix

Ministry distributes Bibles in Ukraine Reported by the Christian Post, a ministry based in Texas is printing and distributing Bibles and other gospel-centered materials through a vast network of churches and Christian organizations to Eastern Europe. The organization is the Eastern European Mission, or the EEM. This year, the EEM had a goal to distribute 970,000 Bibles and other Christian-based materials in over 30 countries in total and in 20 different languages.  This includes the war-torn country of Ukraine. In fact, requests for materials have increased. Vice President of the EEM, Dirk Smith, says, “God uses evil, and this war is definitely not from a good place…” However, nonbelievers are looking at the believers and wanting to know how they are handling these terrible circumstances. Believers are needing more material to share Christ in these trying times. According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 6.8 million refugees from Ukraine are recorded globally, and nearly 4 million people are displaced in Ukraine as of November. Romans 10:14-15: How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Canadian pastor sentenced on December 23 A pastor named Derek Reimer of Mission 7 Ministries in Calgary appeared in court for sentencing back on November 27 after being found guilty in August of criminal harassment and 4 counts of breaching bail conditions—all of this stemming from a conversation with a service delivery manager of a public library. According to Rebel News.com, Pastor Reimer approached the manager at Saddletowne Public Library to ask why the library was hosting events where adults dressed in drag and read books to children, often encouraging the children’s exploration of sexual identity and promoting non-traditional values. The manager refused to engage in the conversation and asked Reimer to leave, which he did, but did comment that he would likely return to protest. Reimer also posted about this interaction on his social media, voicing his disapproval. Even though the manager, Shannon Slater, never submitted a victim impact statement to the Canadian Court, Pastor Reimer was still convicted on Dec 23rd. Justice Molle delivered his sentence, including, among other things, a $500 fine, 12 months of house arrest, and 2 years of probation. During his sentence, he must also write an apology letter to the manager Shannon Slater, be banned within 300 meters of a public library on days with a scheduled Reading with Royalty event, and is even prohibited from “entertaining friends at his personal home.” See the full list of his required punishment in his sentencing in the link in our transcript at TheWorldview.com. Hebrews 10:22-23: Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” Chaos at airport in Phoenix Chaos erupted the day after Christmas at the Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. The Associated Press reports that around 9:45pm on Dec 26th, a group of people at an airport restaurant had a disagreement that escalated to the point that one man pulled out a gun and another man pulled out a knife. An adult female and 2 males were shot, leaving the female with life-threatening injuries. The two men were in stable condition, including another man with a stab wound. Two hours later, in an unrelated incident, another man showed up with a bag full of guns after he had recei

The worst countries in both categories were Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan and Syria.  Even the United States was among 110 countries where some level of government intimidated religious groups. Trump on U.S. Expanding Territory President-elect Donald Trump is renewing calls for the U.S. to expand its territory. Trump wrote on Sunday, “For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity.” Besides buying Greenland from Denmark, Trump also called for the U.S. to regain control of the Panama Canal if nothing is done about rising shipping costs. Trump even suggested Canada become the 51st U.S. state. Trump to Pursue Death Penalty for Violent Criminals Donald Trump said he will pursue the death penalty for violent criminals. He wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday, “As soon as I am inaugurated, I will direct the Justice Department to vigorously pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters. We will be a Nation of Law and Order again!” Trump was responding to President Joe Biden who commuted the sentences of 37 prisoners on death row. Christians Face Persecution During Christmas, Trump Promises to End “Transgender Lunacy,” The Christmas Truce of World War I

It’s Christmas, Wednesday, December 25th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes written by Jonathan Clark and heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  Filling in for Adam McManus I’m Ean Leppin. Christians Face Persecution During Christmas Around the world, Christians face increased persecution during Christmas season. Armed men killed 14 Christians in Nigeria on Sunday. The believers had just celebrated a Christmas carol service at the Evangelical Church Winning All. In Vietnam, officials arrested Christian villagers over the weekend for getting ready to celebrate Christmas. Authorities had told Christians they would face arrest if they celebrated Christmas or attended non-sanctioned churches. And yesterday, officials in Nepal arrested a pastor just for giving gifts. Pastor Janmajya Bhattarai had given educational materials, clothes, and gifts to underprivileged children in the area. During this festive season, Hebrews 13:3 reminds us, “Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.” Honda and Nissan Consider Merging Japanese automakers Honda and Nissan announced Monday they are in talks to merge by 2026.  If completed, the merger would create the world’s third largest car manufacturer by sales after Toyota and Volkswagen. Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe said, “The rise of Chinese automakers and new players has changed the car industry quite a lot. We have to build up capabilities to fight with them by 2030, otherwise we'll be beaten.” Ohio School District to Settle with a Christian Teacher Over Unlawful Termination In the United States, an Ohio school district agreed to a $450,000 settlement with a Christian teacher last Wednesday. The Jackson Local School District forced Vivian Geraghty to resign a couple years ago. The teacher refused to use biologically incorrect pronouns for transgender students based on her Christian beliefs. Logan Spena with Alliance Defending Freedom responded to the favorable settlement for Geraghty. He said, “No school official can force a teacher to set her religious beliefs aside in order to keep her job. . . . The First Amendment prohibits that abuse of power, and Jackson Local School District officials have learned that comes at a steep cost.” Trump Promises to End "Transgender Lunacy" President-elect Donald Trump promised to end “transgender lunacy” on day one of his second term.  Listen to his comments from a speech he gave Sunday at Turning Point USA’s America Fest conference. TRUMP: “With the stroke of my pen, on day one, we are going to stop the transgender lunacy.” [Crowd cheers] “And I will sign executive orders to end child sexual mutilation. Get transgender out of the military and out of our elementary schools and middle schools and high schools.” Trump also said he would keep men out of women’s sports, stating, “It will be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female.” Most Popular Bible Verses During Christmas Lifeway Research released data from the Bible app YouVersion on the most popular Bible verses during Christmas. Popular verses include the narrative of Christ’s birth post also verses from the Psalms and Old Testament prophecies. The most popular Bible verses during the Christmas season are Luke 2:11-14 and Matthew 1:21.  Matthew 1:21 says, “She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” The Christmas Truce of World War I And finally, on this day in history, the Christmas Truce took place between the Germans and the Allies in World War I. On December 25, 1914, Captain Robert Hamilton, a lieutenant with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, made this entry into his diary: “A day unique in the world’s history.
