    2/2/25 - David's Relationships Part 1: Saul & David's Conflict - Pastor Josh Stelly

Conflict is inevitable in our relationships, but as followers of Jesus, we are called to respond with grace, faith, and integrity. Timestamps: (00:00) Intro (00:45) Prayer for the Governing Board (03:54) The Message Five Ways to Respond to Conflict from the Life of David: 1. Identify the Source of Conflict • 1 Samuel 18:6–9 – Saul’s jealousy toward David reveals how insecurity can fuel conflict. • James 4:1–2 – Conflict often arises from internal struggles, such as pride or envy. 2. Respond Wisely to Unjust Treatment • 1 Samuel 19:9–11 – David chose to flee rather than retaliate when Saul attacked him. • Proverbs 15:1 – A gentle response diffuses anger, while harsh words escalate conflict. • Romans 12:17–19 – We are called to live honorably and trust God for justice. 3. Choose Honor Over Revenge • 1 Samuel 24:1–12 – David spares Saul’s life, showing restraint and respect. • Matthew 5:43–44 – Jesus commands us to love and pray for our enemies. 4. Recognize the Larger Story • 1 Samuel 26:7–12 – David refuses to take matters into his own hands, trusting God’s plan. 5. Trust God to Bring Resolution • 1 Samuel 31:1–6 – Saul’s downfall came in God’s timing, not David’s actions. • 2 Samuel 1:11–12 – David mourns Saul’s death, showing a heart free from bitterness. Key Takeaways for Dealing with Conflict: 1. Identify the root of conflict. 2. Resist retaliation. 3. Choose honor. 4. Focus on God’s larger story. 5. Let go of bitterness. “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander… Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” – Ephesians 4:31–32 Sermon Notes: https://tpob.org/sermon/dealing-with-conflict-davids-conflicts

1/26/25 - Resilient Faith Part 4: Living from a Resilient Heart - Pastor Josh Stelly

True resilience is born out of a lifelong commitment to seeking and applying God’s wisdom. As we allow His truth to transform our hearts and guide us, we can flourish even in the midst of trials. 1. Listen Carefully • Proverbs 4:20 – Pay attention to God’s words and incline your ear to His wisdom. • Isaiah 6:9 – Many hear but do not understand; true wisdom requires intentional listening. 2. Keep Careful Watch • Proverbs 4:21–22 – God’s wisdom must remain in our hearts, bringing life and healing. 3. Guard at All Cost • Proverbs 4:23 – Guarding our hearts is crucial because it determines the course of our lives. • Matthew 12:33–37 – Our words and actions reflect the condition of our hearts. • Mark 7:20–23 – Evil comes from within; transformation begins in the heart. 4. Remain Focused • Proverbs 4:24–25 – Keep deceit and distractions away, fixing your eyes on God’s truth. 5. Choose the Right Path • Proverbs 4:26–27 – Walk in wisdom, staying on the path God has set before you. Bottom Line: By listening to God’s wisdom, guarding our hearts, and staying focused on His truth, we develop the resilience to stand firm in any circumstance. “Lord, when my eye confronts my heart, and I realize that you filled my heart with your love, I am breathless and amazement. Once my heart was so small in its vision, so narrow in its compassion, so weak in its zeal for truth. Then you chose to enter my heart, and now in my heart I can see you, I can love all your people, and I have courage to proclaim the truth of your gospel to anyone and everyone. Like wax before a fire, my heart has melted under the heat of your love.” – Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf Timestamps: (00:00:00) Intro (00:00:45) Prayer for Pastor Benjamin from India and Welcoming (00:07:29) A Summary of the Series (00:09:31) The Message Sermon Notes: https://tpob.org/sermon/living-from-a-resilient-heart

True Worship • John 4:21–25 – Jesus shifts the conversation to worshiping in spirit and truth, emphasizing a relationship with God over rituals. • John 4:26 – Jesus reveals Himself as the Messiah, affirming His identity. Jesus’ “I Am” Statements: 1. I am the bread of life. 2. I am the light of the world. 3. I am the door. 4. I am the good shepherd. 5. I am the resurrection and the life. 6. I am the way, the truth, and the life. 7. I am the vine. 8. I am the Christ. The Woman’s Response • John 4:27–30 – She leaves her water jar and runs to share her encounter, illustrating how true healing leads to action and testimony. 1/12/25 - Resilient Faith Part 2: Anchored in Hope - Pastor Josh Stelly

We seek to discover the unshakable hope that anchors our souls and helps us navigate difficulties. As C.S. Lewis once wrote, “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” Spiritual Dullness vs. Active Faith • Hebrews 6:12a warns us against becoming spiritually dull (Greek: nothroi, meaning “indifferent”). • 2 Peter 1:5–8 encourages us to respond to God’s promises with faith, moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, endurance, godliness, and love. • Hebrews 6:12b reminds us that through faith and endurance, we inherit God’s promises. What Has Been Promised? 1. The Earth – Matthew 5:5 2. The Kingdom – Matthew 25:34 3. Eternal Life – 1 Corinthians 15:50 4. Angelic Support – Hebrews 1:14 5. Blessing – 1 Peter 3:9 6. A New Heaven and Earth – Revelation 21:1–7 The Certainty of God’s Promise • Hebrews 6:13–15 highlights God’s promise to Abraham, fulfilled through patient endurance. • Hebrews 6:16–18 assures us that God’s oath and promise are unchangeable, providing us with confidence and hope. • God cannot lie. • We have taken refuge in Him. • Hope is set before us. Two Unchangeable Things: 1. God’s Promise 2. God’s Oath Hope as an Anchor for the Soul • Hebrews 6:19–20 describes hope as a strong and trustworthy anchor, leading us into God’s presence through Jesus, our eternal High Priest. • Our resilience is built by anchoring our souls to Jesus, the unshakable hope that sustains us in trials. The Bottom Line: When we anchor our souls in Christ, our unshakable hope, we develop the resilience needed to withstand life’s challenges. “In all my troubles, I have cried out to You, and You have heard me. I have been tossed and turned upon the waves, yet You have always anchored me in Yourself. You are my steadfast hope and my unwavering rock. In You alone, my soul finds rest and peace.” – St. Augustine of Hippo Sermon Notes: https://tpob.org/sermon/anchored-in-hope/

Resilience is the ability to endure life’s hardships and emerge stronger than before. The Bible encourages us to remain steadfast in faith, trusting in God’s strength and promises even in challenging times. Three Essential Practices for Spiritual Resilience: 1. Daily Immersion in God’s Word • Ephesians 5:25-26 highlights the cleansing and renewing power of Scripture in our lives. 2. Prayer and Fasting • Prayer connects us with God, while fasting helps us detach from worldly distractions and focus on spiritual growth. 3. Commitment to Community • Romans 12:5 reminds us that we belong to one another in the body of Christ, emphasizing the importance of fellowship and mutual support.
