A podcast about "The Andy Griffith Show" and all things Mayberry. Episodes contain interviews, listener feedback, and loads of Mayberry fun. The Two Chairs No Waiting is hosted by Allan Newsome. Allan is the webmaster for iMayberry.com and has been very active in The Andy Griffith Show (TAGS) community since 1992 running the daily e-mail newsletter called the “Who’s Been Messin’ Up the Bulletin Board” Digest along with multiple Mayberry related websites.

    Mayberry Christmas to all 2024

    Two Chairs No Waiting Host: Allan NewsomeRunning time: 0:54:13 It's Christmas time once again here in Mayberry so it is time for the annual Christmas episode. The Andy Griffith Show had only one episode centered around any holiday and that holiday was Christmas. Fans have watched that episode time and again as Ben Weaver tries to get himself arrested so he can spend Christmas in jail with the Taylor's, the Muggins', and Miss Ellie. It always speaks to our hearts when we see Ben singing outside that courthouse cell window. Since the podcast began, Two Chairs has tried to bring back that warm feeling as we go through Mayberry related memories of Christmas time. We also try to make a new memory or two in the process. We have a special guest back again this year from over in Dodge City. His name is Festus Haggen and he has a really good story to tell about Santa. There's a story called "The Fife Before Christmas" by my friend Rik Roberts who played "Barney" to my "Floyd" in the Mayberry Man movie and Mayberry Man series. We have a favorite of mine by Charlie Monk called "Andy and Opie Christmas" that brings back memories of a small town Christmas that sure reminds me of Mayberry. We hear from Elinor Donahue about recording "Away in a Manger" with Andy then we hear her sing just that.     Ellie Saves a Female

(S1.E27) Plot Summary Ellie Saves a Female: Ellie, continuing her feminist pursuits, chooses to assist Francine Flint, the daughter of a local farmer, in gaining independence, despite her father's disapproval. Andy resolves the conflict by persuading Farmer Flint that a gentler approach, symbolized by the use of honey to attract bees, is more effective in achieving his goals, in this case, retaining his daughter's help on the farm.     Mayberry Days Trivia Championship 2024 Final Round

    Two Chairs No Waiting Host: Allan NewsomeRunning time: 0:30:02 Last week we played Round 1 of the Mayberry Days Trivia Championship 2024 where ever correct answer was worth 100 points. If if you didn't play last week, you may want to go back and play along because this week you bring your point total forward into round 2. This episode we’ll play Round 2 and the "final question" of the Mayberry Days Trivia Championship 2024. Round 2 has nine questions with each being worth 200 points. Incorrect answers are worth negative 200 points. You'll need to keep up with your score so you can add your round 1 and round 2 point totals together. The "Final Question" allows those with positive point totals to wager their points in an attempt to score the highest total.     Mayberry Days Trivia 2024 Qualifying Round

    Two Chairs No Waiting Host: Allan NewsomeRunning time: 0:28:56 Mayberry Days is a great time to be in Mount Airy, NC and the 35th annual Mayberry Days lived up to that statement. A highlight of every Mayberry Days is the "super bowl" of Mayberry Trivia. This episode we go through the Qualifying Round questions and answers of the 2024 World Championship of Mayberry Trivia. The qualifying round is played by all who chose to participate and attempt to earn a spot in the Finals of Mayberry trivia. If you qualify, you end up facing previous years Mayberry Days Trivia champions as well as the others who qualified from this round on stage for the finals. Good luck with the questions.     Golden Arm and a Hungry Mother

    Two Chairs No Waiting Host: Allan NewsomeRunning time: 0:20:47 It’s the Halloween season and it is a tradition here on Two Chairs No Waiting to tell a spooky story or two around the campfire. This year, as we did last year, we have a special guest storyteller. James Dodson has been coming to Mayberry events for a few years now as an "Andy Griffith" tribute artist. I thought it would be fitting to have him tell the story about "The Golden Arm" and I know you’ll enjoy his telling. I always look for other stories that fit into the feeling of the season and I found this on about the "Hungry Mother." When traveling from Alabama to Andy's home town of Mount Airy, NC my wife and I always pass the freeway exit for Hungry Mother State Park near Marion, VA. Almost every year, with out fail, we comment on "why would they name a park 'hungry mother'?" I found out the story and I'll share it with you. Finally, a story about a man all alone on a dark mountain road. Looking for help because his car won't stop. This episode is spooky so be sure to keep those who might not sleep well, like Barney and Gomer, away from this one.
