Eeeekk, i love this show, network, and Mama Jules and I understand the sentiment behind your explanation... However, there IS a stigma against LGBTQIA+ individuals and prospective parents that assumes children are at higher risk of sexual abuse at their hands. Especially same-sex partners who are male. Obviously, your storytelling didn't focus primarily on their sexuality but you literally introduced them as gay men, who were married, and also adopted kids. If a considerable number of listeners felt cringey when they heard the episode, that's valid. Especially considering the widespread misconception that the LGBTQIA+ community embraces pedophiles. As a storyteller, i think it's important to acknowledge the invalidity of those stigmas, despite the facts of the story. No one wants to protect the abusers, just the innocent people who may be lumped in with those monsters because of shared identities, because regardless of your opinion or intention, that hate does exist. I love this show and I’ve never written a review but I was disappointed with the way someone’s sexual orientation was mentioned. If the story about the gay couple was the same as your other cases, you would be mentioning the sexual orientation of every couple you report about. If you’re going to say “gay couple” then you should probably say “straight couple” on the other stories.
