    Real Worlds / Virtual Worlds

As VR and virtual worlds become more accessible and commonplace, and with the “metaverse” being the buzzword of the day, we explore what it means to create and explore virtual worlds.
We spoke with Patrick Ingoldsby, art director at Ubisoft Toronto, on his team’s work representing the diversity of the near-future version of London in Watch Dogs: Legion; Renaud Person, world director at Ubisoft Annecy, about creating a game inspired by seven American National Parks for Riders Republic; and Mélanie de Riberolles, new business development director at Ubisoft, about the VR experiences Ubisoft developed based on Notre-Dame de Paris following the fire that damaged the monument in 2019.
Music featured in this episode includes Fantaisie en Sol Mineur BWV 542 by Johann Sebastian Bach, played by Olivier Latry. With the kind permission of La Dolce Volta (℗ La Prima Volta & © La Dolce Volta 2019).

I love this podcast

As I said in the title, I love this podcast. I only started to listen to it today, but I’m hooked, I’ve already listened to all their episodes and I can say that they are all great. These amazing and creative artists are just so down to earth and it is so interesting just to hear them talk.

We Need Diverse Games

Nobody cares how diverse the development team.
All we want are members that are good at their job. So they can make great games.
Call it an unpopular opinion but I don’t care if there’s less women in the gaming work force. If a man is more qualified and better at a job he should get that job over the female.
That logic can be applied to any gender, race, sexuality or religion.
Just get the best people for the job and stop worrying about diversity.
Diversity for the sake of diversity feels forced and fake.
A character’s diversity should not be the only reason they are “interesting” or “engaging”.
This clearly shows how out of touch Ubisoft is with its fanbase.
