In Your Honor - Side A

In Your Honor - Side A

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side A of In Your Honor. A double album? Two sides of charged up heavy rock and two sides of acoustic numbers? What the hell is this? A reverse Bob Dylan? Joking aside, this monumentally ambitious project could have been a disaster of epic proportions, but In Your Honor comes blistering out of the blocks with six songs that tear along at a breakneck pace. Will the frenetic energy of the title track cut the mustard for our heroes without capes? What will they think of a song simply titled "Hell"? And, most importantly, will Kev's fiendish picks for this week's Best of You segment finally bamboozle Corey and close the gap in the race to be come out on top in Season Three?
The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and get out of here alive.
Songs covered in this episode: "In Your Honor", "No Way Back", "Best of You", "DOA", "Hell", "The Last Song".

One By One - Side B

One By One - Side B

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side B of One By One. The writing and recording of this album was a train wreck and it's been largely disavowed by everyone involved in the years since, but then again, Dave Grohl once said that Learn to Fly was his least favourite song on an album that also contains Live-In Skin, so what the hell does that guy know? Will Brian May's presence on the opening track sway Kev over to a positive assessment? Will Overdrive be the fuel, be the fire, be that which Corey desires?
The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and keep from growing old.
Songs covered in this episode: "Tired of You", "Halo", "Lonely as You", "Overdrive", "Burn Away", "Come Back"

One By One - Side A

One By One - Side A

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side A of One By One. "Hey Dave, the opening track from the last album was a bit of a banger, I bet you can't write anything as strong to open this record..." "Hold my beer and bring me a FRESH POTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!" This week's album side explodes out of the gate and contains two of the biggest live tracks in the Foos catalogue. Could this one be Kev's highest-rated side in the Foos canon, and will Corey be on board with a song called "Disenchanted Lullaby"?
The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and learn to live again!
    Songs covered in this episode:
"All My Life", "Low", "Have It All", "Times Like These", "Disenchanted Lullaby"

There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Side B

There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Side B

Corey and Kevin are back to talk about Side B of There is Nothing Left To Lose. You know what makes a good meal? A variety of flavours. A little sweet, a little savoury, perhaps a little sour, and dare we say, a little umami? Yes, we dare; "umami". We get into the weeds a little about sequencing and whether or not Dave's decision to move to a basement in Virginia impacted side two of the album more than side one. Coincidentally, we've covering the song Aurora in the aftermath of one of the biggest social media events, sorry, astronomical events, of recent years! But will Aurora make Corey's heart sing, and what will Kev think of the very late addition to the album based on a riff that Dave came up with during mixing?
The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and come home... next year!
    Songs covered in this episode:
"Aurora", "Live-In Skin", "Next Year", "Headwires", "Ain't It the Life", "M.I.A."

There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Side A

There Is Nothing Left To Lose - Side A

Corey and Kevin are back to look at side one of There is Nothing Left To Lose. How to follow up a massive album like The Colour and the Shape? Well, you could hire the best hotshot producer in the world and head over to the best recording studio money can rent. Or maybe, just maybe, you could buy a house in Virginia and convert the basement into a studio and hang out with your two bandmates and create a much mellower record. On balance, we're pretty happy that Dave opted to peek behind door number two. Will Corey be on board with another song about Hollywood after covering the enigmatic Memory Remains last season? Will Kevin like the shouty, shouty approach of Dave's vocal in Breakout?
The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and cry when they all die blonde!
    Songs covered in this episode:
"Stacked Actors", "Breakout", "Learn to Fly", "Gimme Stitches", "Generator"

The Colour and the Shape - Side B

The Colour and the Shape - Side B

Corey and Kevin are back to look at side two of “The Colour and the Shape”, the record that established them as a band to pay attention to. We get another one of the giants of the Foos catalogue, possibly the biggest of them all. We talk about bouncing crowds, whether songs that sound like they belong on the debut album, and how long is long enough! Will Kevin give any song on this record a perfect score, and will Corey please explain to the dumb Brit what the hell “plating” is?
The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and pass the boats and the Kingdome!
    Songs covered in this episode:
“Enough Space”, “February Stars”, “Everlong”, “Walking After You”, “New Way Home”
If you want to see the clip of Nandie Bushell playing Everlong, that we briefly discussed, you can find that here: https://youtu.be/MRvHI8tgx8A
