UNEARTHED is a podcast produced by a small team of radio and sound design enthusiasts who believe that there is more room in life to leave things up to the imagination. If we hear something that makes us say, 'that's weird' then we know we are on to a story.
We hope to build a collection of pieces that unearth the kind of characters and stories that may challenge or confuse you. Pieces that hopefully will make you feel something...

Tag on the Toe
It is not often that you get to spend time with an undertaker. This piece is a glimpse into the world of Mr Dunga, a funeral practitioner based in a township 15km outside of Cape Town called Gugulethu. The space that he operates from is not the clinical, sterile environment you may associate with the preparation of dead bodies. Rather his funeral home reflects the realities of his everyday experience as he manages death in a context of poverty. A reality he takes on with grace, humour and dignity.
