Woo Woo in The Real World

Becki Davis & Tami McCarthy
Woo Woo in The Real World

Woo Woo in The Real World is a show that focuses on how we coax our soul into embodied action and cultivate joy. This could be through working with a healer, performing a ritual, reading tarot, consulting an astrologer, communing with nature, writing a song, writing a one-woman show, or just slowing down and taking a bath! The ways we woo are as varied as the humans on the earth and how we’re transformed by those experiences and integrate them into the real world is as unique as a fingerprint. Hosts Tami McCarthy & Becki Davis are on a mission to normalize woo-woo experiences of spirit so that more people will tap into and trust their inner wisdom. They believe that sharing stories is one way to do that. Frederick Buechner says it best in his memoir, Telling Secrets: “My story is important not because it is mine, God knows, but because if I tell it anything like right, the chances are you will recognize that in many ways it is also yours.” We’re more alike than we are different. Perhaps a little more Woo Woo in The Real World can help us move past fear and better connect to ourselves and to those around us so that we can do our part to help heal the world.

Connecting Stories Through SPARK with Serena Norr

Playwrite, director, writer, and digital editor/consultant Serena Norr is no stranger to story or the spoken word. But when it came time to write her own story for SPARK, Serena was surprised to find an invisible thread that helped her stitch it all together. SPARKLING in New Spaces with 5ivefingaz

There are no coincidences. After we wrapped last season and took SPARK to the Bethany Arts Community for its live debut, it was clear that for all of us involved, the experience changed us forever, and a new Sisterhood was born. Would there be another run? There was an outpouring of support, but the Bethany was booked until spring. Then as luck would have it, in late September, when a friend heard of Tami’s search to find a new venue for SPARK, she invited her to meet 5ivefingaz, a well-know graffiti artist and muralist. BOOM! The synchronicity of that meeting was electric, and SPARK will have a weekend of performances at Art Monster Studio, 5ive’s personal studio and performance venue. He joins Tami and Becki for this episode where you’ll hear first hand how divine intervention has played a big role in his life growing up, and finding his way to his identity as an artist. He’s also the creator of LOVE MORE THAN EVER, an art movement that aims to end hate and spread messages of love and acceptance, and he spends time cultivating young and emerging artists, among other creative endeavors. Hear about 5ive’s journey, his very own SPARK moments, and just how perfect his studio is for our next run of shows in November!   ⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖⚡️💖   In July (2024) SPARK, a transformative theatrical experience of personal stories, movement, and soul-stirring music created and produced by Tami, hit the stage and sold out shows. SPARKING New Songs & Stories with Lynne Barasch

Talking about a family member who struggles with a serious mental illness isn’t something that was done when Lynne Barasch was growing up, so it wasn’t something she talked about as an adult either. Until SPARK. In this episode Tami & Becki are talking with Lynne Barasch, co-musical director for SPARK and one of the women who shares a monologue in the show. It’s a two sided interview giving you a behind-the-scenes look at the original music of SPARK and also a look into Lynne’s experience sharing a story she had never previously put into words. What is A Spark Moment?

What does it mean to have a SPARK infiltrate your life? That’s what we’re exploring in Season 4 of Woo Woo in the Real World.    In July (2024) SPARK, a transformative theatrical experience of personal stories, movement, and soul-stirring music created and produced by Tami, hit the stage and sold out shows. Told through the voices of 10 women, SPARK delves into themes of identity, loss, love, and growth. It reveals true life-changing moments were divine intervention or instinct takes control, leading to a spark that nurtures the spirit and lights the path ahead.    This season Becki & Tami are talking to the women of SPARK to unpack the experience but before they get going, they talk about the SPARK experiences that have been shaping their year. Then they welcome the Director of SPARK, Beth Spitalny to join their conversation.   We know that sharing stories can be healing. But how you refine a story for the stage so that it’s tight, timely and compelling while holding onto the essence and authenticity is a real art. Hear how Beth managed to do just that.   Beth came to the SPARK project in a typical woo woo, let it all flow kind of way. Hear all about that, her SPARK story, and insights on her experience with the show in today’s episode.    333   SPARK is hitting the stage one more time in 2024 November 1, 2, and 3.
