Unpolished Faith

Welcome, friend! Unpolished Faith is a space of belonging for Christian women who feel out of place. The REAL you belongs here. We are carving out a space on the internet that’s raw and real—free from all the "isms" that hold you back from a whole life with God. This isn’t the perfect, polished podcast you often find in Christian women's circles. Join international speaker and writer @madifranquiz as she fearlessly navigates the raw and unfiltered aspects of the Christian faith. From singleness to mental health, politics, and everyday Christian life, we have authentic conversations, diving into topics that matter deeply but aren't always discussed openly. Yeah, it’s unpolished. But that’s kind of the point. The last four years in Madi’s life have been wild, filled with crazy twists and turns. The Lord showed up for her somewhere between obedience, hard knocks, and hard work. She has learned one lesson through her journey: God is not looking for perfect; He wants all of us just as we are. It's been a journey of surrender and discovery, realizing she is no longer about being perfect, polished, and performing for her worth. The liberating truth is that it's in our messiness where we encounter God's grace the most. From holding back due to the fear of imperfection to finally surrendering to God's plan, Madi's story exemplifies the transformative power of embracing our flaws and allowing God to work through them. And, now, she wants to share in this freedom with you. Get ready for candid conversations, inspiring narratives, and practical insights that will challenge and transform your faith journey and encourage you to live authentically. Each episode delves into the stories and experiences Christians sometimes shy away from—the struggles, doubts, and questions integral to living out our faith. This won’t be a stuffy, “churchy,” one-sided conversation. Throughout the podcast, Madi invites friends, family, pastors, academics, theologians, authors, and everyone in between to join the conversation because, just like you, they are unpolished, too. This podcast reminds you that it's okay not to have it all together. We have someone who is perfect, so we don't have to be. So, if you're seeking hope, growth, meaning, and a deeper understanding of how the gospel can transform your life, 'Unpolished Faith' is for you. The invitation to live free is open! So, pull up a chair or turn up the radio in your car. Let’s uncover the woman you were created to be. Together, we'll discover that amid life's messiness, the real stuff is indeed the good stuff.

Seeing Christ Through the Old Testament | Brent Thomason

Reminder: IF you have not downloaded yours, remember this is a FREE resource I created that goes along with the conversations we have this season. It is in each episode’s podcast description. ******* Hi friend! Welcome to the first day of our three-part Christmas Theology deep dive (say that three times fast). We kicked off this season with Dale Partridge, who reminded us of the 4,000 years of history where people longed for Christmas—but God was not silent during those years. Through His prophets, He delivered over 300 prophecies and promises, all pointing to the King who would come. From Genesis to Malachi, these promises told of the Messiah who would fulfill them all, proving He is the King who was promised. On the show today we have Dr. Brent Thomason, here to help us see Christ throughout the Old Testament. Dr. Thomason is the Dean of the Graduate School of Ministry and a Professor of Biblical Studies at Dallas Baptist University, where I’ve had the privilege of taking his Hermeneutics class this semester. Dr. Thomason’s journey with Scripture is rooted in an impressive background. With four degrees from three different countries—including Belgium and the U.K.—and years spent living and ministering overseas, Dr. Thomason brings a unique perspective to biblical studies.   Whether you’ve studied these Scriptures a hundred times or this is your first deep dive, I promise this conversation will leave you in awe of God’s perfect plan from the beginning to the end. Extraordinary Hospitality (For Ordinary People) at Christmas | Carolyn Lacey

Hello friend! Welcome back to another episode of our Unpolished Christmas mini-series. Today is extra special because we have our very first international guest joining us on Unpolished Faith! Carolyn Lacey, all the way from Worcester, England, is a writer, speaker, pastor’s wife, and Bible teacher. She serves part-time at her church as a women’s worker, regularly teaching the Bible at women’s events and conferences. Carolyn is also a mum to two grown-up children and a passionate advocate for ordinary, life-giving hospitality. In this episode, we’re talking all about hospitality—what it means to open our hearts and homes to others during the Christmas season, and how we can follow Jesus’ example of extraordinary welcome in ordinary ways. Carolyn reminds us that hospitality isn’t about perfection or impressing others; it’s about making people feel seen, loved, and valued—just as Jesus does for us. What You’ll Hear in This Episode: ✨ How Jesus models true hospitality and invites everyone to His table. ✨ Why hospitality is about presence, not perfection. ✨ Practical ways to practice simple, meaningful hospitality this Christmas. ✨ Encouragement for those who feel overwhelmed, unqualified, or limited. ✨ How small, ordinary acts of kindness can have an eternal impact. The Christmas story itself is one of welcome—of God making a way for us to belong through the birth of Jesus. As followers of Christ, we are invited to extend that same heart of hospitality to those around us, even in small, simple ways. Whether it’s inviting a neighbor over for coffee, creating a space for a friend to feel safe, or simply showing up with a generous spirit, Christmas is the perfect time to embody the extraordinary welcome of Jesus. Let this episode encourage you to set aside the pressure for Pinterest-perfect hospitality and instead embrace the beauty of making room for others in your ordinary, imperfect life. 🎄 Show Links: Download this FREE devotional from Madi: 12 Days of Unpolished Christmas Connect with Madi Follow Unpolished Faith Watch this episode on YouTube Connect with Carolyn Lacey Get Carolyn's Book: Extraordinary Hospitality (For Ordinary People) ******** This Christmas season, Unpolished Faith is focusing on the heart of generosity by partnering with All God’s Children International, an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children around the world. Storytelling Matters with Beecher Proch and Kingdom Story Company

🎉HAPPY 50th EPISODE OF UNPOLISHED FAITH FRIENDS!!! 🎉 Did you know 90% of podcasts don't make it past their 8th episode?! The only reason this is still happening is because of YOU! I am honored that you are here. I am humbled that you choose to listen—that this space feels like home, where you belong. Truly, doing this thing called Unpolished Faith is the greatest honor of my life so far. And to celebrate this huge milestone, we’ve got a guest I’ve been so excited to share with you: Beecher Proch from Kingdom Story Company. If you’re not familiar, they’re the creative powerhouse behind some of the most impactful faith-based films out there—Jesus Revolution, Unsung Hero, and the newest, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (which I’ve seen and cried at the end—10/10 recommend!). Beecher works in what he calls the “can-kicker” role—kicking things down the road in any area to make these stories happen. Today, we’re talking all about why storytelling is at the heart of Christmas and how stories shape our traditions, point us to Jesus, and stir our souls toward something bigger. What You’ll Hear in This Episode: ✨ Why storytelling is central to the Christmas season. ✨ The role faith-based films play in sharing the gospel and captivating hearts. ✨ How Kingdom Story Company is shaping the future of Christian storytelling. ✨ Behind-the-scenes insights into the making of films like Jesus Revolution and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. ✨ Why stories—big or small—can bring hope, beauty, and transformation. At Christmas, everything ties back to a story—the story of Jesus coming to earth to redeem us. From the nativity scene to the movies we love, stories have a way of anchoring us in truth, stirring wonder, and helping us see the bigger picture. Whether you’re crying at a Hallmark movie or reading about the manger scene for the hundredth time, stories matter because they point us back to the One who gave us the greatest story ever told.
