Electoral Court dismisses urgent application by uMkhonto weSizwe Party founder in a bid to remove Zuma as party leader
The Electoral Court has dismissed the urgent application launched by Umkhonto Wesizwe party founder, Jabulani Khumalo to be reinstated as leader of the party. Khumalo last week launched an urgent application before the specialist court. Khumalo was expelled from the party and removed as its leader earlier this year. ANC top 6 expected to meet alliance leadership in the wake of the outcomes of 2024 general elections
The Alliance Political Council, comprising of the top six officials of the African National Congress, the South African Communist Party and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) are expected to meet at 2pm today in order to consolidate discussions around the possible formation of a Government of National Unity. This comes less than 72 hours before the first sitting of the National Assembly on Friday which is aimed at nominating a president elect, electing a speaker of parliament and his or her deputy. SACP's General Secretary Solly Mapaila says the ANC should not complicate matters but including the DA into the mix. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Senior SABC Politics reporter, Ntebo Mokobo.

Pretoria North Magistrate's Court set to hear case against 35-year-old man accused of Soshanguve murders
A 35-year-old man is expected to appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate's Court today for allegedly murdering four people, including two children in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria. Six people were shot in the area last week. They included two girls, aged four and seven whose bodies were burnt when the shack in which they had been sleeping was burnt. Eastern Cape community in shock after five members of the Matiwane family were kidnapped
The community of Seaview near Wild Coast Sun at Mbizana in the Eastern Cape, is still in shock after five members of the Matiwane family were kidnapped. Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera confirms deaths of his vice president and 9 others in plane crash
Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera says he's sparing no resources to find a missing aircraft that was carrying his Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima and nine others. Chilima left from Lilongwe to Mzuzu yesterday morning to attend the funeral of the country's former attorney general and Justice Minister Ralph Kasambara.
