Oh them

There are two kinds of podcast host: those who love their fans and those who are really quite mean to them, an act of self-hate perhaps. Drew and Lauren fall into the latter camp, I have met them irl and watched as they sneered at a normie listener after she asked an earnest question at one of their live shows. That said, we were in the same orbit for a while and since moving away from nyc listening to this podcast is an access card to essentially fond memories and feelings. And I love it. It is smart and funny. It is my favorite podcast. Do not listen to the call-in episodes when you’re in a car with friends who haven’t listened though. It’s dull as dirt. In fact, you might just have to contend with the fact that probably no one in your midst is going to care for it. LOVE the will self episode!

I usually appreciate the discussions and thrilled you spoke to Claus. But the audio is tremendously terrible. At any given time, one host sounds like they’re recording miles away from their mic and the other sounds like they are right next to my ear sipping water in a disgusting way. Ew!!!

Drew’s towheaded callback alone merits five stars
First and Last Time Listener

Someone recommended your episode with Joshua Cohen, and I couldn’t make it past 30 minutes. The female host (I couldn’t care less what her name is) would not stop interjecting inane comments about mid-century or pastiche - or using penile metaphors to insult Cohen and call his work boring. Not only did she sound insipid and sophomoric, but she persistently and rudely interrupted Joshua Cohen in a way that said, “this podcast is about MOU”. It was truly awful.
