Henry Ward Beecher once wrote that “a thoughtful mind, when it sees a Nation’s flag, sees not the flag only, but the Nation itself.” These two xenophiles, vexillogists, historians, and general intellects have committed to taking their listeners on an anthropological global tour of flags and the cultures, religions, history, governments, and people who reside under or adjacent to them. I’m hoping that their following installments will match their pilot episode with respect to its conversational quality. It was like eavesdropping on a couple of young professors speaking extemporaneously in the corner of a quiet bar about all their favorite subjects while tying them all together between sips of 20-year-old bourbon. Can’t wait until they release new episodes.
