Voices From the Frontline with Catherine Fairweather
Voices from the Frontline is a new series hosted by journalist Catherine Fairweather which explores lives shaped by war. In conversation with celebrated photographers, reporters, curators and campaigners the podcast salutes the personal narratives; the epiphanies and turning points of those who have lived at the sharp end. It ponders the ideological issues of the frontline and unpicks the cycle of trauma, healing reckoning and respite that inevitably follows.

Not sure there is enough space or interest for all I would like to say Catherine you are such an inspiration to me Don equally so, more so as a human being than a photographer- and that’s saying something as I am a total fan of his genius raw honest photography Spending time with you both is life changing for me and my children Don always so understated and always so connected to, engaged with, sympathetic to the simple walks of life where I too feel so much more myself You, Catherine, always so brilliant - not only as a writer Thank you for this work, thank you for sharing this podcast with me on this rainy morning here in flooded Nairobi I wish Don were here to record what is unfolding, back in Eastley another one of his backyards… It is in telling our stories that not only do we set ourselves free but so much of what you talk about here open worlds to those of us who didn’t have the opportunity to experience all these events and moments in history Preserving cultures All our intangible heritages That help us weave together our human stories So inspired THANK YOU
