    The Power of a Pill - When a Prescription is in Control Part 2

    This episode has a content warning. We speak about depression and suicidal thoughts. Counselors are available for those in need by calling the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline. Zach declares, “Depression is not just the blues.” Today’s episode of The Single Christian Women Speak podcast is the second in a two-part series in which I, Tracie Lobstein, speak with Zach, a single Christian man, as he shares his experience with prescription dependency. He explains the support he needed from others, such as family, friends, and the church, during his struggle. When he reached out for help, he discovered he wasn’t alone in his struggles. He encourages the listeners, saying, “They are not going to look down on you, call you weak, or make fun of you. They want what is best for you.” As a single, Zach also addresses the question of whether prescription dependency would be a deal breaker in a dating relationship.     The Power of a Pill - When a Prescription is in Control Part 1

Needing more.” This is how Zach, a single Christian man, described a stage of his journey with prescription dependency. Today’s episode is the first of a two-part series in which I, Tracie Lobstein, speak with Zach. Listen as he shares details about his daunting battle of doing what he didn't want and being powerless to do what he did want to do. Where does prescription dependency begin? For Zach, “This all got started, sitting on the couch, relaxing, and expressing how painful my feet and back were after a hard day at work.” He then opened up about how his reliance on prescription medication led to a loss of control and took him to unexpected places, physically and mentally. What effects do our beliefs have on our decisions? Zach shared his thought process at one point, “I think that it had to do with my view on dependency or addiction at the time.” See how his viewpoint changed when he reached out for help and gained a message of hope.
