The document, received in November 2024, reveals that the ATF has been monitoring online gun forums, social media websites, and law-abiding gun owners for over a decade, with an intelligence assessment on internet firearm sales dating back to November 2015.,The GOA claims that the ATF is abusing its power by targeting and harassing law-abiding citizens instead of focusing on actual criminals. The document shows that the ATF monitors lawful transactions and continues to surveil gun owners even after potential threats are deemed not credible.
