    WTComics Presents: THE BIG HUNT!

    WTComics Presents: THE BIG HUNT!

This is it, it's the return of one of our most poplar shows ever, THE BIG HUNT!

It's a simple concept, with amazing results. Brett, Keith, Mo and defending champ Chris take twenty dollars and go shopping at the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, trying to find the craziest, most amazing things they can for that budget price. And you won't believe what they come across on this scavenger hunt type event.

As an added bonus, this year's contest is judged by our good buddy, Batman '66 artist Scott Kowalchuk, (click to see Scott's excellent online strip Lucha Liberty) as well as his good friend Crystal.

This is likely the funniest comic book related show you'll hear in 2019, if not ever. And make sure to check the gallery below to see all the wild stuff that was bought. We promise you won't believe some of it.

Can anyone knock Chris off during the Big Hunt? Listen to find out if he successfully defends last year's title from the Creating Commerce showdown.

WTComics Presents: The Indomitable Dave Sim Part 2

WTComics Presents: The Indomitable Dave Sim Part 2

Part 1 with Dave Sim available here.

The We Talk Comics podcast is back for round 2 of our explosive interview with the legendary Canadian cartoonist Dave Sim.

On this episode we get all of Dave Sim's thoughts on what happened between him and Bone creator Jeff Smith. Plus, the fallout that occurred. Dave gives his perspective on the incident. This includes how he still doesn't understand what he said that offended Jeff Smith's wife Vijaya Iyer. Dave also goes into why he believes that he was treated unfairly by the comic book industry afterwards. It's a frank discussion from the point of view of the Cerebus the Aardvark creator.

This leads into further philosophical discussions on the willingness, or lack there of, of people to freely exchange thoughts and opinions. Dave Sim, of course, has plenty of thoughts on this topic.

Also, Dave explains some of his more controversial opinions on feminism and there effect on society. These are not widely held beliefs by many, but we certainly respect Dave Sim's right to freely speak them.

And Dave also tells us a few other things, like why he doesn't trust Amazon and Comixology. Also, why comic book creators still aren't given the rights they should be.

This is another fascinating listen, and we encourage your feedback in the comments section. We also want to thank Dave Sim for his generous time given, and hope you all enjoy the show. We promise it's a wild ride.

WTComics Presents: The Indomitable Dave Sim Part 1

WTComics Presents: The Indomitable Dave Sim Part 1

Dave Sim & Cerebus The Aardvark have a birthday message for you.

Part 2 with Dave Sim available here.

The legendary Dave Sim is on the mighty We Talk Podcasts podcast, and it's incredible.

In a career spanning more than 4 decades, including a groundbreaking run on his self published book Cerebus the Aardvark with collaborator Gerhard. (click for audio from a panel featuring Gerhard at the Calgary Expo), Dave Sim literally changed the comic book industry.

On this episode Dave Sim shared stories and insights from early days of publishing Cerebus. Those were some amazing times from the early days of independent comic book making dealing with stores and printers. Then he tells us how those stories tie into the present day for creators.

And also discusses seeing the impact Cerebus had including the proliferation of Anthropomorphic Animals like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters and other contemporaries of Cerebus the Aardvark in the indie comic book world.

Dave also shares insights into the consistency of the Cerebus character despite the shifting direction the series took on as a whole begininng with High Society, Church & State and Jaka's story. and the logic behind creating the Cerebus phone books.

We discuss which independent creators and publishers he admires, and the challenges Dave faced as a publisher through Aardvark-Vanaheim on books like The Puma Blues and Flaming Carrot.

Also, Dave Sim and fellow iconic Canadian creator and his mentor Gene Day.

There's a lot to learn from this episode, and some great laughs along with reminiscing about a comic book truly like no other in Cerebus the Aardvark, check it out and please spread the word.
