Wedding Capture Co is a wedding photography & videography educational podcast hosted by Chris Spice (Spice Wedding Films) and Tom Langford (Tom Langford Photography). Chris & Tom have over 15 years of wedding photo/video experience and will be sharing their vast knowledge on everything from running the business to shooting and editing a wedding.     044: Preparing for the 2025 Wedding Season

    Even though it’s only the 2nd day of the New Year, we didn’t want to leave you waiting for our first episode of 2025, so here it is!! We think this is the perfect topic for a January episode and also an updated version of our very first episode that we dropped back in March 2023, so hopefully you’ll hear the improvement. In today’s episode, we’re talking about all those things we do to prepare ourselves, our equipment and our businesses for another busy year of capturing weddings. With most of us probably facing a couple of quieter months before thins really kick off, now is a great time to build new systems, adopt new habits and form new routines that’ll hopefully become mainstay as the season kicks off. We also (maybe controversially!?) think that getting some of these things in place may even be more important than tying up any loose ends of edits from 2024 and you’ll have to listen in to find out why! So if you find yourself staring at your laptop screen and not really knowing where to begin after the Christmas break, this could be the perfect episode to give you the guidance and motivation you need to make the most of this time and make 2025 your biggest and best year yet!

    043: Our 2024 Year in Review

    Here we are….our final episode of 2024 and our year in review. Firstly we just want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for listening/watching and supporting us and these conversations. Over the 23 episodes we’ve released this year we’ve had 4 incredible guests, shared with you the highs & lows and hopefully imparted some knowledge along the way too. This episode is an amalgamation of all the above as we reflect on how this year has been, whether or not we hit the goals we set at the end of last year and what we’re planning to do with our businesses (and this podcast) in 2025. We also start the pod with some tech chat about our Black Friday purchases and (more importantly) sharing the amazing news that Chris won Best Videographer for the South Central region at TWIA! There’s loads to unpack in this episode and maybe you’ll hear some things that really resonate with in terms of how your year has faired too.     042: The Importance of Setting Expectations

I love to think that we all want to wildly exceed our couples expectations and give them a service beyond anything they ever thought possible when they booked you for their day. Sadly that sometimes isn’t the case and it’s all too easy to blame that on our clients for having too bigger dreams about what their wedding could be. In this episode we flip that theory on it’s head and offer the mindset that this only happens by poorly managing our clients expectations throughout that journey… In this episode we cover how we keep those expectations in check by the copy on our websites, the thing we cover in the initial call, right the way through to portfolio curation, a detailed contract, FAQ’s and everything in between.     041: Holiday Lessons, Coda & The Changing Industry

    Now that we’re back from our USA holiday, we have a little catch-up on our recent adventure, what we got up too and also some business learnings that came from our time on the cruise. We also throw in a teeny bit of holiday camera chat as would it even be the Capture Co, if Chris didn’t buy yet another camera to go on holiday with?? We’re also entering the closing months of the year and our sights are firmly on the booking situation for 2025; because of this we reflect on the shifting state of our industry when it comes to enquires, bookings and the immediacy that’s become expected from us in replying. Is this the new norm or just a race to the bottom? Lastly Chris’ gives us his opinions on last month’s awesome Coda conference; (the very first event if it’s kind solely for videographers in the UK) all the knowledge bombs he got from the speakers, the astounding feedback he got from you guys about the pod and also the warm glow of being surrounded by so many like-minded individuals, wanting that community feeling. Thanks so much to everyone who said hi at Coda and huge respect to Ron Films for putting on such an amazing event!

    040: Our Pre Wedding Rituals

    Ever had that fear that you’ve left the house without any SD cards in your cameras? Do you leave it until the morning of a wedding to check the route or fill the car with petrol?? We all have our own quirky methods and levels of preparation when it comes to doing our jobs; so we thought it’d be a fun episode to chat over the things we do in the weeks, days (and in some cases!) hours before we leave the house to go and shoot a wedding. In this episode we discuss our pre-wedding questionnaires, packing kit, charging batteries and even the best time to buy your wedding day snacks! It’s a real fun one and a great insight, not only into how we run our business’ but also our slightly OCD traits when it comes to being organised.     037: 2025 Struggles, Filming in Lake Como & Wedding Fatigue

    Tickets to our workshop are limited and available now at: https://spiceweddingfilms.com/podcast How things can change so fast!!We went from both feeling really in control and ahead on recording, to only sitting down to make this episode around 48hrs before we release it… That feeling definitely steers the course of this episode as we wave goodbye to summer and move into autumn/winter weddings.Whilst we feel that we’ve both had incredible summers making some of our best work, we’d be lying if we said that hasn’t taken a toll and feeling a little fatigued for the final push through a busy September. Chris is now back from Lake Como and he reflects on his time in Italy and the lessons learnt from a destination wedding of this calibre. Make sure to listen in for his learnings of this amazing experience and whether or not he’ll be marketing for more in the future. We also talk about the struggles and changes of booking patterns for 2025 and how we think the landscape for couples booking their days have changed.
