Welcome to the Jews Next Dor podcast, the Jewish parenting podcast focused on helping parents to raise passionate and committed Jews.
In general, parenting can be challenging, and children don’t come with an operating manual. This challenge is magnified when adding our Jewish values of raising children to be passionate and committed about being Jewish, about developing a relationship with Hashem. In order to tackle this challenge, we need to make sure we as parents are prepared to handle each level of our children’s hierarchy of needs to enable our children to become passionate and committed Jews. As such, we will begin at the most basic level of parenting, and build on that, month after month, with weekly episodes, learning from leading experts of our dor, our generation, about raising the Jews next dor, the Jews of the next generation. We will start each month with the basics of the topic, move on to practical application of the advice, and finish with intervention - what to do when the basics and practical advice is not working.
My name is Rabbi Yair Menchel. I am an educator, a parent of young children and a parenting coach who is trained in the Guiding Good Choices parenting method, which is a research based curriculum for parenting developed by the University of Washington with years of proven success, and I look forward to learning together with you how we can best parent our children, to take care of the whole child, and each child, and to help guide them in their journey of their relationship with Hashem.
