Did you ever wish you learned to play guitar or drums but never got around to it? Do you love live music but wish it was you on stage? Do you ever wonder what it would be like to sing in front of hundreds or thousands of people? Well, then, why not come hang out with Nick, Mike, and Jase as we sit back, have a couple drinks, and discuss everything about being in a band.

We’ve spent our entire lives playing music and playing in bands and now comprise the Hudson Valley’s number 1 90’s & 00’s cover band, Run For Cover, playing all the songs we’ve grown up with and love. Whenever you see a band playing at a bar, club, festival, or private party, there’s so more that goes on behind the scenes to make that happen: decades of dedication and practice, tens of thousands of dollars spent on equipment, and thousands of hours of practice, not to mention negotiating with club owners and even organizers, dealing with inter-member conflict, and the struggles of being both artists and businessmen.

Join us as we discuss topics like ”Polygamy: How being in a band is really being married to several people!” and ”Imposter! That’s Not Your Real Name! - A guide to dealing with crazy stalker fans” and ”Why do I have to pay so much for a band to play at my wedding? Don’t they just get drunk and act stupid on stage?” (the answer to that last one is, ”Yes, but...”)

Please send any questions or comments to r4cpodcast@gmail.com. We’d love to hear from you and see what questions you might have or topics you’d like to hear us discuss.

Episode 21: Broccoli-haired boys at Planet Fitness - can we just not?

How much is it okay to drink during a gig? What's the ideal level of drunk for creativity? Nickolai finds "a Reddit" with an article that ... articulates the answer! Great! Now we don't have to think.
Nick has caused Mike and J to abandon all hope for a drummer that can play in time. Mike's route cause analysis of why Jase lived in Sioux Falls. The meditative war sounds perfectly demonstrate J's skull's war on his hair! All this and more on this week's 21st and final episode!

Gold's Gym - The perfect place to be bicurious AND find a contract killer!
What makes someone a superfan of a band? Can you name every album, EP? IN ORDER?!? Does it mean you have a tattoo? Or does it mean you stick by them through thick and thin? Should you force yourself to like an album by listening to it so many times you can't NOT like it?
What would your favorite band have to do - legally or morally - to make you not want to ever listen to them anymore? How would you create the worst band possible?
All this and more this week in our 20th and final episode of "We're In A Band!"

Episode 19: The Ten Commandments of Being in a Band

Episode 19: The Ten Commandments of Being in a Band

The gang solves the middle east crisis. What conspiracy theory is most likely to be true? What is deja vu? Are we living in a simulation? What's the best Matrix movie? Learn how to use a good Shrek wig to look great and promote inclusion! Nick makes fun of J's tattoos, Mike talks shit about white women. Finally, at some point, we get into the real sausagy meat of this week's pod, the ten commandments of being in a band. We score about a 70%, which is a C. Luckily, life is a pass/fail class!

Episode 18: That was the summer I saw my dad’s penis.

Episode 18: That was the summer I saw my dad’s penis.

Settle in for Nick's riveting subway story (the crackhead-filled mass transportation under NYC, not the sandwich shop that hires yester-fat pedos) featuring his inability to spell fentanyl. Jase bought Hanson shirts. We discuss cover band competition and cover bands with separate singers (okay, sure; they might play a tambourine here and there).
Mike works at the power company and Jase saw his dad's dick for the first time on Lake Erie! All this and more; to the soundtrack of John Cage's 4'33" and Mike choking on a donut.
And, of course, we eventually get around to discussing music and music news!

Special Edition: What the f*** is up, Denny’s? Pt.3 - Run 2 Cover

Special Edition: What the f*** is up, Denny’s? Pt.3 - Run 2 Cover

Join us this week for another special post-gig podcast recorded at Denny's. We're exhausted, spent, drained, empty, and just about any other term that might apply to both a post-coital ballsack and a band that has just played their hearts out for the last 4 hours.
Nick wasn't able to join us this time (he had to go throw up so he could fit into his wedding dress), but we took the opportunity to talk mad shit about him. F**k that guy, amirite?
We love you guys - come see us live sometime! Drink some good beer with us, party to your favorite tunes, and let unwind from a busy work week - that's what we do and the whole reason we're in a band.

Episode 17: How DARE you - on Shrek’s green c*** - call me a ”ska guy”?!?

Episode 17: How DARE you - on Shrek’s green c*** - call me a ”ska guy”?!?

Pro tip: skip the first five minutes!!!
Relentless spiders, Hudson Valley geography, Nick's newest eating disorder, Caribbean doctors doing BBLs - this week, we've got it all!
What music do you listen to when you're depressed or ... ate too much ice cream? Great news! YouTube probably has a channel just for you!
What does it mean to be a professional musician? When did we accept that we are nothing more than a fat old bald dude whose terrible at guitar, a hipster, and a bulimic? Was it when J learned that a music teacher's salary didn't begin to constitute a ROI? Perhaps. Was it how demoralizing it can be to play original music to an empty house? Was it [insert whatever Nick's reason was here]? Yes.
Truth is, we all enjoy playing music together a hell of a lot more since it isn't our primary job. While there's always a secret desire for fame and fortune, it sometimes feel like we're all dodged bullets to not have pursued that life.
...Or at least that's what we'll keep telling ourselves.
    Shout out to Brian Goldbormer.

mike dooner muldoon ,

Really fun show!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first podcast! I’m from the Hudson Valley, now in AZ, so I saw local posts about the band which led me to the Podcast. I enjoyed the conversations and will be checking out the other shows. Keep it up guys!

Mr. Mediocrity ,

Literally the best podcast in the world!

As one of the creators of this podcast, I feel like I have the most objective perspective on the quality of this podcast, kinda like how they make doctors perform surgery on their own children. I think my review was fair, balanced, and lacks any hint of bias or hyperbole.
