WGB #127: Orange and Blue Balls Mets Podcast - We Gotta Believe

    • Baseball

Turns out Thor is more two-faced than Loki as Noah Syndergaard double crossed the Amazin's and skipped town for California. The one time "ace-in-waiting" never fully lived up to anyone's lofty expectations, but we were hopeful for a comeback with the qualifying offer. There were no guarantees that he would take it, but based on his comments and social media posts we thought it was a foregone conclusion. Turns out he wanted to let us down one last time on his way out the door, thus closing the book on the of the Mets' arsenal of aces that we thought would lead us to multiple championships way back in 2015.

Instead, like all who have come before him, he parts ways from Flushing with a sour taste in his mouth.

The guys break down what Syndergaard meant to the team, his impact on the fans, the larger-than-life persona off the field with little results on it and where the hell we go from here.

Make no mistakes about it, this news is shocking. Not because we thought we could rely on him long-term, but because now the Mets have some MASSIVE HOLES to fill in the rotation. Good thing our new GM is on the way?

The Mets landed a GM and it ended up being a last resort instead of a first option. The newest general manager of the New York Metropolitans is Billy Eppler. Billy was meant to grab the headlines today and set the fanbase's minds at ease, but instead we're dealing with the Noah fallout. When one fire is put out, the next sparks up.

Eppler received a terrible rap while with the Angels and gives fans reason to worry as he was seen as wasting the prime of Trout's career, however, he is a New York guy who rose quickly in the Yankees' ranks before heading west. He's described as a bright young leader who was served a raw deal by the Halos, but whether or not that's true is anyone's guess.

Only time will tell on whether Billy Boy is our guy, but one thing's for certain, we gotta believe that he's just a stepping stone to greater things ahead.
