What About Me? with Dr Rachel Briggs

Tiny Voice Talks Education

In this episode, Toria chats to Dr Rachel Briggs about understanding and supporting educators’ psychological wellbeing when teaching children and young people living with vulnerabilities and/or trauma.  Rachel talks about the relevance to educators of compassion stress injuries and compassion satisfaction, setting these in the broader context of the education system.  They talk about her model of educators’ work-related psychological wellbeing which can be accessed (free) on Rachel’s website – www.reflectedandbalanced.com

Rachel is a former teacher, deputy head, SENDCo, DSL, and SEMH needs consultant.  She now combines knowledge from her teaching experience and recent academic studies to provide reflective supervision to educators, working with those across all roles from EYFS to HE.  She is co-founder of a growing community of practice for reflective supervision practitioners who have an education background.  She also offers training related to understanding and supporting workplace psychological wellbeing and informally supports doctoral students researching educator wellbeing or the use of supervision in the education sector.
