United meanwhile were torn apart by a Watford side who found a full-house St James’ Park a relatively easy venue as they put three goals past a lacklustre Magpies side.

Alan Pardew may even be announced as West Brom manager by the time the two teams meet tomorrow but he is not expected to take charge of the side.
