A podcast about ranking our favorite pop cultural stuff! From movies, to sports moments, to rides at amusement parks, we're all about discussing and ranking our favorite things. Your hosts Larry and RJ and assorted special guests will bring you a new list to discuss each week.

Top 5 Rides at the Disneyland Resort

Top 5 Rides at the Disneyland Resort

Today, we fondly remember our favorite rides at the Disneyland (Anaheim, CA) resort which includes both Disneyland AND California Adventure. I say "fondly" becase it has been so long since anyone has been able to get into either park due to COVID 19. And no one really knows how long it will be before they open up again.

We have a full "cast" of characters on this episode, bringing back Delainey Ashbrook, along with her sister Madison Ashbrook (and current Disney Company employee) in for the discussion, and of course your hosts Larry Lloyd and RJ Carnesi (former Disneyland employee). We actually recorded this episode quite a long time ago but held off on releasing it because it seemed irrelevant in our Quarntine life. But, oddly, it's more relevant than ever since we are all starting to miss so many things about "normal life".

If you've never been to the Disneyland Resort ("DLR" as Madison likes to refer to it), you should listen to this to help plan your visit! If you have been, even a lot, I'm sure you'll enjoy comparing your own favorites to ours. Many of these rides have changes somewhat over the years and we talk about those different versions too.

So, listen and enjoy! Please, if you have a moment, rate and review us where ever you listen to your podcasts.  Thanks!

Top 5 Things We Miss About Pre COVID Life

Top 5 Things We Miss About Pre COVID Life

We've been away for a while trying to come to grips with our new lived reality, but today we're back to talk about the things we loved about before the Coronavirus! Your hosts RJ and Larry are joined by special guest Madison Ashbrook to talk about those things. We're about to enter week 5 of California's Shelter In Home order so we've had plenty of time to think about the things from before then that we just can't do right now.

Since we're practicing safe social distancing, we recorded this episode via Zoom so the quality is, again, not as great as we'd like but at least we were able to record. Also, Madi and I got some pizza just before the recording began so you may hear food sounds too!

Some of us aren't that broken up about not having to drive to work but life has definitely been more complicated over the last month. You'll hear about some of those complications in this episode.

Anyway, we hope youre managing to get through all of this, not going stir crazy or getting on the nerves of those people you may be stuck at home with. Enjoy the episode, don't forget to rate and review us where ever you listen to podcasts, visit our website or leave RJ (rj@whatsyourtop5.com) or Larry (podhostlarry@whatsyourtop5.com) emails!

    Top 5 Favorite Movie Sequels

    Top 5 Favorite Movie Sequels

We're back again with another movie-themed podcast, this one in which we discuss  our favorite Movies Sequels of all time. Movies are a subject we're pretty passionate about so these kinds of discussions are usually pretty easy to have. Its the original Podcast crew today, Linda Ashbook, RJ Carnesi and Larry Lloyd reuniting (it has been a long time since our Will Ferrell movies discussion) to give you our thoughts about movie sequels.

We open up our lists at the 2:30 mark but it only takes about two minutes for a good laugh to emerge thanks to the ever funny Linda Ashbrook (she's our show's Lucille Ball). We also go off on the tangent of "what is a movie sequel" a couple of times. For example, when a filmmaker makes one long film that gets separated into two features, for whatever reason, is the second film really a sequel??? Deep philosophical discussions are needed to address questions like this!

Also discussed a few times is how RJ is just not a fan of big tent-pole type movie properties (like Avengers and Harry Potter). He likes what he likes! We did find at the 22:35 mark that he didn't like the Solo installment of the Star Wars franchise at all. We get another funny, if somewhat dark, story courtesy of Linda at 26:40. RJ also spills the beans about just when this was recorded around 27:45. Major, and extraordinarily sad event was unfurling before our eyes as we sat down to record this one. We also talked about a trip to Italy we were planning at the time, a trip since blown up by Coronavirus.

We wrap up by talking about a few movies that didn't make our list, discussing at length how Samwise Gamgee would have made a MUCH better ring bearer that Fredo/Frodo!

Enjoy the episode and please leave us some feedback. Email us at RJ@whatsyourtop5.com or podhostlarry@whatsyourtop5.com, or visit our website www.whatsyourtop5.com and let us know what you think of our little show!

Top 5 Things to do While in Quarantine

Top 5 Things to do While in Quarantine

Coronavirus is here as is "safer at home", "shelter in place", "home quarantine", etc., and, let's fact it, it can suck. If you've been stuck at home for a while now, you know how easily you can become totally bored or a little edgy with your spouse, significant other, children, roommate. Well, today, we put our heads together to try and come up with five great things you can do while stuck in these circumstances.

We talk about the safeguards to employ against acquiring the Corona virus, asymptomatic-ness, poly symptomatic-ness, how to address our sympathies for local businesses by buying from local restaurants for pickup/delivery, how much better the So Cal air quality has been, along with the improved quality of the canals of Venice. And we enjoyed the sounds of nature...chirping birds on the patio.

Our lists definitely had a lot in common so we got to go a bit deeper on a few items than we might in a normal episode.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy the pod and figure out something new to try out to pass the time. Don't forget to check us out on our website here and give us a rating on your favorite podcast listening app.

    Enjoy

    Top 5 Favorite Sports Movies

    Top 5 Favorite Sports Movies

We're back! With a discussion of our favorite sports movies. Man, it was hard to narrow these lists down to just 5 but we did. RJ Carnesi and Larry Lloyd are joined this week by special guest Trevor Lucas who brings a wealth of sports cinema knowledge to the discussion (especially about 1980's sports movies). And, to his credit, he came up with a few non-traditional sports movies for the conversation!

I know the sound level is a bit low and we're working on improving our sound engineering skills so bear with us on this!

We kick our lists off at the 1:00 mark to discuss our 5th favorites.
At 5:10 we take a brief diversion from the lists to talk about the time Larry missed the Miracle on Ice to go see a middling 1980s comedy
At 7:00 we get our 4th favorites
    10:55 our third favorites
    18:10 the #2's
    22:30 for our favorites
at 26:00 we have a brief conversation about the amazing aging attributes of Carl Weathers.
Finally, at 26:35 we hit a few honorable mentions

We hope you enjoy this week's episode. Leave us some feedback with an email to RJ@whatsyourtop5.com or podhostlarry@whatsyourtop5com. Of course, you can visit us at www.whatsyourtop5.com and leave some feedback there too.

Top 5 Things to do in Southern California

Top 5 Things to do in Southern California

In this our fourth episode, your co  hosts Larry Lloyd and RJ Carnesi are joined again by Madison Ashbrook to talk about fun things to do in Southern California. One of our more lively discussions thus far, mainly because there are so many things to do over such a large geograhpic area. We defined Southern California to be from the San Fernando Valley in the North, South to San Diego, from the coast East to inland desert.

We tended to veer off into a number of interesting tangents as well, discussing the Cornavirus, drink specials at Applebees, miserable travel experiences, adult milestones and more.

If you're planning a trip to the Southern California area anytime in the near future, this would be a great podcast for you to listen to. We by no means cover everything to do but we tick off a lot of the big things and tell you why they'd be worth considerting. We hope you enjoy it!

If you do, make sure you rate us on Apple Podcasts or where ever you listen to such content. Also please feel free to visit our websidet at www.whatsyourtop5.com and leave us an email with your thoughts on the podcats or ideas for future lists.
