S2 E7: FAREWELL LISTENERS - Compilation of great Irish business minds

We have arrived at our destination, having had many learnings along this wondrous and expanding journey. The final episode of 'Where the needle lands', an Idiro Analytics podcast series, asks you our listener, "Where does your needle land now that you are more informed and thought provoked by our guests who are industry leading lights?" Having achieved the #1 spot often was worthy of back clapping but the real triumph and satisfaction came in the form of observing listeners opening up to a discussion on the impact of technology, AI and the possible future of technology in all our respective lives and our own responsibility in the evolution of tech user experience. ‘Where the needle lands’ set out to make the tech discussion more accessible to all and therefore debatable and idea processing. Achieving that and getting the channels of communication open and flowing was a reward in and of itself. We would like to express our gratitude to Idiro Analytics for their constant support. A huge thank you to all our guests, each of our followers and listeners for contributing to the podcast's great success, covering topics such as taking responsibility, team playing, leadership, purpose, digital transformation, 5G, data privacy and sovereignty, sustainability, DE&I, data sharing and AI ethics. When listening to this episode, which is a compilation of quotations from each and everyone of our guests, with the resulting juxtaposition of mind sets and varying perspectives, will allow you to sum up for yourself, where your needle has landed on your map! Enjoy and thank you. S2 E6: PEOPLE ARE TO IRELAND WHAT CHAMPAGNE IS TO FRANCE - with Padraic White, former IDA MD

Padraic White, former MD of IDA Ireland, the agency dealing with foreign direct investment, speaks with us colourfully on the hows and the whys of the global tax reform, the new corporate tax regime and how Ireland played a leading and pivotal role in securing the alignment of the 139 OECD countries to support a global 15% corporate tax rate. The evolution of Ireland's low corp tax regime is covered by giving a social historical account of a 1950s Ireland at 0% to 12.5% nearly 70 years on, and how it impacted and benefited the commercial and cultural landscape of Ireland to becoming and being one of the top 5 economies in the world. While Ireland's competitive and envy-inducing success in having a low corporate tax is a tool to maintain and continue to encourage FDI, however, our ever evolving and enriched 'People' of Ireland are a super pull in itself. “People are to Ireland, what Champagne is to France and oil to Texas”. A very succinct and dot-joining episode on all the recent tax related media making headlines, covering corp tax rates, tax havens, Apple and all that money sitting in the escrow orchard, to the politics at play and the power of our small nation in the global arena and its impact on Irish society and those joining our society.
