Both were as different as they could be from each other, but excellent! I hope you re-air them each year.
Not a good podcast.

Wasting time on self referential NYC inanities such as made up words, made up style trends, none of which have any relevance to people outside of the coastal cities.
Where have all the Democrats Gone? Sedaris, Abortion
قبل ٥ أيام
Bari and her ilk claim I am an anti-Semite because I believe the slaughter of women and children can never be justified - not by a cruel 80 year occupation and not by the inevitable result of said occupation. To be human is to be unable to forcibly subjugate another people without turning into a monster. Israel is not magically immune from this law. Israel is a monstrous society. Period. End of story. Any claim to the contrary is insane - literally insane - and contradicted by 10,000 years of human history. Speaking of which - if you’re interested in the truth about religion in the West including Christianity and all its myriad forms, Bari needs to interview Earl Fontainelle about his SHWEP podcast. The silliest thing about the Abortion episode is the pro-abortion argument made by one of Ms. Weiss’ employees. It’s obvious to me she hasn’t done the work and for Ms. Weiss to hold this argument up as the “best argument” on the pro life side is quite telling. The basic issue at stake is when does a gamete/zygote/fetus become a “person”. The fact is: moral intuitions differ. I don’t consider a pre-viable fetus a person, and it’s not the job of the state or church to decide the issue for me. In fact, it’s a fundamental violation of my deeply-held religious beliefs and a tyrannical violation of personal bodily autonomy. Furthermore, Weiss’ pro life proxy doesn’t even consider the right of the mother whom this other “being” is attached too and inseparable from. If we were to concede that a fetus were a person from conception and its rights cancel the mother’s, are we also to concede that an adult human, attached by a tube to another host human and dependent entirely and exclusively upon that single host human for life, has a legitimate and superior claim to the life, body, health and autonomy of the host human? Even if it kills or damages the health of the host human? Even if the attachment of the tube was done through a horrible, violent crime? There is no legitimate, non-religious pro life argument against pre-viability abortion. None. Those who use government violence to enforce their religious beliefs on others are tyrants and criminals. There is no locus of rationality in America. Not on the left, and certainly not in the “center”. Elite Rot has destroyed our republic just like every republic before it. Get ready for your Emperor America - you deserve him. My family is out of here. We’ll enjoy the warmth of the conflagration from a safe distance. In those eternal words of the great poet Zach de la Rocha: “Burn, burn, yeah you’re gonna burn”. Nemesis is here.
Honestly disappointed in Weiss and Andreessen

I was quite interested to hear Marc Andreessen's interview and his convincing revelations why he would so drastically switch his support. “Honestly” I didn’t hear a coherent answer to this question. The fact that the position of the democratic party in general and more so of its left wing is quite problematic and needs serious corrections is very much in tune with what I feel. Even though I can’t imagine his assessment of democrats’ attitude towards Tech and AI to be fully objective - it sounds more like a good cover for his support for Trump - but even if it is, isn’t the role of a leader, of a person of significant influence to fight for a change of directions of the party he always supported? But even more puzzling and fascinating is his declaration of the morning in America? Honestly? Seriously? With a man at the helm who is by admission of his supporters is narcissistic, borderline sociopath and of many who worked with him closely before having strong authoritarian urges, quite a few just call him fascist. A person who didn't accept the results of presidential elections - the first time in American history - even after over 60 challenges in courts were rejected. Whose constant lies during his first 4 years in power are well documented. Who was a prime reason of the attack on the Capitol building for the first time in 150 years? Whose anti-scientific and anti-tech stance in many areas is also well documented. The unqualified people Trump tries to install in the most important positions of power (HSS, National Security, Attorney General, FBI, Defense) do not instill much confidence either. Trump’s desire to prosecute his opponents and even to execute some of his critics doesn’t project a bright image of the approaching morning, does it? For me it feels and sounds more like America’s sunset? Bari Weiss didn’t challenge any of Andreessen’s statements, didn’t ask for clarifications and details, didn’t ask any hard questions but sang along to what seems her agenda: under the smoke of objective reporting provide one sided view of our not so bright reality.
