    The fishing season on the east coast is off to an exciting start, with a variety of species being caught along the coastline with great catches including sailfish, dorado, snoek, and amberjack from the deep. Despite some recent weather challenges, fishing remains strong. From the surf side we have reports of sand sharks and snoek, good catches of shad, Kob, and non-edible fish. Freshwater fishing has been tough due to high temperatures and rain, but there have been some successful catches in rivers and Stillwater dams. A major update: Blue Lagoon and the Umgeni Estuary are off-limits for fishing due to E. coli pollution, with authorities investigating. Other KZN areas continue to offer great fishing opportunities. Overall, despite some challenges, the KZN coastline promises plenty of fishing action in 2025.

Wahoo and tuna are also appearing further south. • Freshwater: Trout fishing has slowed due to warmer weather, but yellowfish are active, with good reports from Sterkfontein.     What a week it’s been in KZN – the summer heat is full on, but so is the fishing! Dorado has stolen the show, with reports flooding in from every corner – skiboats, kayaks, and even rock and surf. It’s been a Dorado frenzy, but that’s not all! Gray sharks, wahoo, big shad, bronze bream, and even some freshwater action have been keeping anglers busy. Central areas around Durban has spotted great catches of grays, sandies, and even a few Zambezis. Offshore has been a playground for game fish, including wahoo, tuna, and sailfish. Meanwhile, down the South Coast, it’s been non-stop action with dorado off the rocks and boats, along with big shad and some serious rock salmon. The freshwater scene in the Midlands has been a little quieter, but bass are starting to show up, and yellowfish are in full feeding mode. Whether you’re casting off the rocks, out on a kayak, or diving, there’s something for everyone right now. As Adam Lyon puts it: “Bring everything you’ve got!” It’s all happening in KZN this summer.     What a spectacular week on the water! With species galore and fantastic action, anglers have been spoiled for choice. Shad season is in full swing, and those big shad are showing up in abundance! And it's not just the shad; sharks, dorado, and more are making their presence felt. If you're into offshore fishing, the action is hot with dorado for days, while the rock and surf scene is still delivering with some great catches, including garrick, cob, and the occasional big kingie. The South Coast continues to shine, from the deep sea with dorado, sailfish, and tuna to the rocks and surf where garrick, cob, and shad are making waves—there's everything but a unicorn! Meanwhile, the underwater scene has been just as exciting, with chunky snoek and the odd couta making an appearance. Up north, the reports are all about shad and sharks, but in the deep, it’s the green and gold dorado that are stealing the show. Offshore action is off the charts, with plenty of fish in the deep and kingies showing up in Durban Bay for some fun light tackle action. While freshwater fishing is a bit slow, there’s still some good action in the Midlands and at Sterkfontein for yellowfish enthusiasts. It's going to be an amazing weekend, and this episode has all your feeding zones!

    Despite a sprinkle of rain mid-week, the weather is expected to be excellent with northeasterly winds, making for ideal conditions for fishing. The South Coast has been thriving with good catches of game fish, including cob, garrick, and the occasional out-of-season shad. Freshwater fishing has also been strong, with solid catches of bass and carp in various dams, particularly at Midmar and Albert Falls, and excellent trout fishing in the Midlands. The North Coast is seeing a steady stream of non-edible fish, including honeycombs, sand sharks, and even some offshore dorado and tuna. The warmer waters and good conditions have fueled the summer fishing boom, with boat anglers enjoying great success as the sea settles. The harbour is also producing grunter, springer, and kingfish. KZN is in the midst of an epic summer fishing season, with anglers enjoying a variety of species and great catches across both saltwater and freshwater spots…Listen now to catch the latest hotspots and forecast for this weekends action! Offshore: It's pelagic season offshore, with a variety of species being landed as water temperatures hit the ideal 23/24 degrees – a true dream for ski boaters.
