The Crappy Childhood Fairy Podcast with Anna Runkle
I’m Anna Runkle, also known as the Crappy Childhood Fairy, and I teach people to recognize and heal the symptoms of Childhood PTSD. Welcome to my podcast!I’m not a doctor or therapist; I know about childhood trauma because I lived it, and I discovered a radical approach to healing that focuses first on calming neurological dysregulation, which is common in people who grew up with abuse and neglect. In my podcasts, I teach about dysregulation – how to know if you have it, what it can do to your body, your thinking and your relationships, and what to do to master re-regulation. When I learned this, everything in my life got suddenly easier. I’ll also be teaching you to heal the life problems that so often develop after years of living dysregulated – feeling tired, isolated and unfocused, finding yourself always drawn to unavailable and inappropriate partners, and falling WAY short of your professional potential, for example. The thing about me is, traditional therapies never seemed to help me. When I found techniques that did work, my whole life changed. Only in the past few years has the trauma research caught up to explain why – why the techniques I use worked, why therapy didn’t, and why my healing journey was so unnecessarily long. I’ve been teaching what I learned for more than 20 years now. It started with friends who had noticed the quick and dramatic change in me, and gradually grew by word of mouth. In 2016, I had so many people seeking instruction that I made my first online video, and then an online course, and this is how Crappy Childhood Fairy was born. My techniques and principles are practical yet powerful – an approach anyone can use, whether or not you have access to professional help. In this podcast, I’ll be talking about the master of self-regulation, and teach the tough-love life-lessons that you may not have learned at home – like how to date so that stable love finds you, how to get ahead at work, and how to calm the negative hamster-wheel thoughts that block your ability to connect with other people. Today, almost half a million people follow my work and participate in my training and coaching programs. My mission is to change the paradigm of what’s possible for people like us, and to help you free yourself from the oppression of trauma wounds, and to become your full, happy and real self. I’m glad you’re here! Watch new videos on my YouTube channel every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and access my videos, courses and free tools at crappychildhoodfairy.com.

Oh Anna, if I had only found you 30 years ago! The trauma in my and my hubby’s childhood has kept us together for over 40 years, but we’ve not been on the “same team” the whole time. Neither of us could stand the thought of abandoning the other or being abandoned because we knew what that felt like.(Thanks for explaining “Abandonment Melange”). Now after listening to your podcasts for only one year, he and I are BEST FRIENDS. We have a long way to go but you have been more helpful than I can ever say. God Bless you, Anna! You’re an amazing person. Don’t forget about all of us when you become even more famous than you already are!!

I’ve been searching for a LONG time for podcasts to listen to on overcoming trauma. I felt a disconnect from every one I listened to until the crappy childhood fairy came into my life, waved her magic wand, and gave me the hope and understanding I needed to keep working on myself. Anna Runkle understands C-PTSD, what it feels like, and how to heal from it. This podcast gave me the kick I needed to start somatic therapy after years of damaging and unsuccessful talk therapy and losing faith in the healing process. Tomorrow I start somatic therapy for the first time with a new therapist. Thanks, Anna Runkle 💓. Wish me luck!
I was the family scapegoat too

Amelia, you are not alone in this. I’m 63, & still dealing with it. Keep your head up, keep calm, hug yourself and keep loving & caring for you, you are important to us 💐🌈💖

I love what Anna has done to raise awareness of CPTSD and generally is a great resource when first getting familiar with one’s trauma patterns. What I don’t appreciate how she makes fun of therapy, and even of inner child work, for example. And, confusingly, her biggest advertiser is for better help, which is therapy. I don’t get it. In her Sept 4 podcast, she was saying that the woman shouldn’t be saying “a part of me feels this way” because that’s somehow disassociating. I totally disagree. Internal family systems therapy (IFS) is very helpful for trauma recovery, and that work is specifically about relating to the parts in us that are scared or angry, or even wise. This is all about reparenting and becoming that parent to ourselves and all of the fragmented parts within that have done all these desperate things to help us survive. This isn’t disassociation, this is unblending so we can see these parts of us more clearly, the roles they have been trying to play to protect us, and then ultimately integrate them. I completely agree with her that talk therapy can actually be re-traumatizing, but some therapy can be super helpful.
