We Can Do Hard Things
Life is freaking hard. We are all doing hard things every single day – things like loving and losing; caring for children and parents; forging and ending friendships; battling addiction, illness, and loneliness; struggling in our jobs, our marriages, and our divorces; setting boundaries; and fighting for equality, purpose, freedom, joy, and peace. On We Can Do Hard Things, Glennon Doyle, author of UNTAMED; her wife Abby Wambach; and her sister Amanda Doyle do the only thing they’ve found that has ever made life easier: Drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard things including sex, gender, parenting, blended families, bodies, anxiety, addiction, justice, boundaries, fun, quitting, overwhelm . . . all of it. We laugh and cry and help each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, free-er, less alone.

I highly recommend reading The TYA Practice by David Strickel of The Stream of David. David offers profound insights on how traditional religions and societal structures have created anxiety by misusing fear and judgment. Through The Stream’s teachings, we learn to break free from these constraints and embrace love, acceptance, and inner peace. David, who is nearby in Palm Springs, is truly amazing—brilliant and full of love. His coauthor shares similar wisdom. I would love for you to interview David on the podcast. Like you, David has taught me that I can do hard things!

I absolutely love your work and appreciate the effort you put into clarifying these distinctions. Recently, I discovered—using ChatGPT (which I’ve found even more effective than Google for this kind of research)—that there are actually three similar-sounding words. Here’s a concise breakdown with easy memory tips: • Entomology: Definition: The study of insects (bugs). Memory Tip: “Ento-” sounds like “ant.” • Etiology: Definition: The study of causes (often used in medicine to explain why a disease occurs). Memory Tip: Think of “etymology”—just as that explains the origin of words, etiology explains why something happens. • Etymology: Definition: The study of word origins. Memory Tip: “Etymo-” reminds you of the beginnings or origins of words. Love you three! ✌️🙏🫶
