Ep 8. How Lack of Clarity Steals Time From ADHD Brains

Are you ready to break free from frustration, shame, and that endless cycle of "why can’t I just get it together?"  If you’ve ever felt like clarity is some mythical thing that other people have figured out—like you’re swimming against a tide of distractions or checking off tasks that don’t even matter—then this episode is for you. I get it. I’ve been there. And I promise you, clarity isn’t impossible. It’s life-changing. We’re talking about why lack of clarity is the ultimate thief of time and energy—especially for ADHD brains—and how connecting to your why can be the breakthrough you didn’t even know you needed. This isn’t about grinding harder or forcing yourself into productivity for productivity’s sake. No. This is about rewiring your approach, ditching fear-based decisions, and stepping into love-based action. In this episode, you’ll learn about: The 'clarity trap' for ADHD brains (1:36)Misconceptions about interest-based nervous systems (2:05)The need for direction in ADHD brains (4:01)The importance of love-based 'whys' over fear-based ones (5:35)How to find purpose even in difficult job situations (8:43)How to discover your ‘why’ (12:14)The importance of aligning tasks with values (17:46)Eliminating tasks that don't align with personal values (18:35)The ADHD Untamed Clarity Challenge (19:27)The importance of taking action and forming new neural connections (22:39) Join ADHD Untamed Here: https://www.anaurban.com/adhd-untamed

Ep 7. How to Build Resilience with ADHD (and Stop Outsourcing Your Power)

If you’ve ever felt like life is constantly pulling you away from your goals, or like your ADHD brain is working against you, you are not alone. If you’ve ever felt like life is constantly derailing your plans, if you’ve found yourself saying, ‘something always comes up,’ or if you’re exhausted from constantly starting over, this episode is for you.  In this episode, I’m talking about resilience.  This topic recently hit home for me in a very real way. I had a full workday planned — emails, posts, recording this very podcast — and then I got the call. My daughter wasn’t feeling well, so I dropped everything to pick her up from school, made her soup, and got her comfortable. My son decided he wanted to come home early too, so suddenly, my 'perfect workday' was completely off track. Old me would’ve spiraled. I’d have been frustrated, overwhelmed, maybe even judged myself for not 'handling it better.' But then I realized, this is exactly what building resilience looks like — not pushing through the storm, but navigating it with grace and purpose. This episode is personal and raw. We’re going to talk about how to stop outsourcing your power to your problems, how to break free from black-and-white thinking, and how to build the kind of resilience that doesn’t just get you through the day — it changes your entire approach to life. In this episode, you’ll learn about: How resilience involves learning, adapting, and trusting yourself. (2:45)Coaching and journaling are non-negotiable for ADHD management. (4:45)Misconceptions about resilience. (5:32)Focussing on mastering skills rather than just solving problems. (11:55)Identify underlying skills needed to address recurring issues. (13:05)Practice self-compassion and celebrate progress. (15:50)Focus on skill development rather than problem-solving (19:49)Blaming external circumstances vs. owning your capacity (22:15)Use curiosity instead of judgment when facing challenges (27:30)Take aligned action instead of waiting for motivation (29:45)Practice self-compassion and curiosity when things go wrong (35:40)Acknowledge progress and uncomfortable actions taken towards goals (39:45)Reflect on what you truly want in life (42:50) Wildly Different Question of the Week: What do you want, and in what area do you need to build resilience? Ep 6. How to Prioritize According to Your Values (Part 2 of Getting to Know Yourself)

Do you really know how to prioritize your time? I’m referring to the significance of aligning time management with personal core values to enhance productivity and reduce overwhelm. This is part two of my four-part series on getting to know yourself and aligning your life with what actually matters to YOU. Last episode, we talked about uncovering your core values — the big, bold truths that guide your decisions, your energy, and ultimately, your happiness. If you missed that one, do yourself a favor and go listen. It’s the foundation for everything we’re about to do today. Let’s be clear though, knowing your values isn’t enough. Knowing them without acting on them is just more noise in that ADHD brain of yours.  In this episode, we’re talking about how to prioritize your time according to your core values.  Because time management isn’t about getting more done — it’s about getting the right things done. I’m giving you practical tools so that you can make that happen. I’m talking real, actionable strategies — from brain dumps and sticky notes to spotting when you’re defaulting to busy work and pulling yourself back on track.  In this episode, you’ll learn about: Using time management to get the right things done and reflect on your core values. (0:50)Using the bucket analogy to visualize prioritizing important tasks (rocks) before less important ones (pebbles). (1:24)How to decide what’s important to you. (2:06)Prioritizing values. (2:22)Real-life examples of core values. (3:03)Knowing your core values is different from acting on them. (4:39)Externalize thoughts through writing or using post-its to visualize priorities. (5:40)Use core values as a decision-making tool to filter choices and tasks. (8:05) Wildly Different Question of the Week: Is this aligned with my core values? Ep 5. When I’m Lit Up, I Show Up (Part 1 of Getting to Know Yourself)

Do you truly know what your core values are? Over the next four episodes, we’re diving into something big: a four-part series designed to do one thing: help you finally, fully, and unapologetically know yourself. This isn’t about vague self-reflection or fluffy “know your why” platitudes. Instead, we’re peeling back the layers of who you’ve been told to be so that you can unearth who you actually are. If you’re making decisions based on programming, people-pleasing, or plain old habit, then your life isn’t really yours. In this episode, we’re diving into core values — your non-negotiables, your guiding compass, your inner north star. Without them, you’re just guessing your way through life. But with them, you will move with clarity, power, and confidence. In this episode, you’ll learn about: Understanding the importance of knowing oneself for decision-making. (2:05)Highlighting the connection between core values and authenticity. (3:12)Explaining how ADHD brains function with an interest-based nervous system. (4:24)The importance of aligning tasks with core values. (5:55)The harmful effects of not giving oneself permission to explore interests. (6:45)Reinforcing that authenticity is inherent and not earned. (8:01)Encourage listeners to explore and identify their core values (10:05) Wildly Different Question of the Week: What lights me up? Ep 4. The Truth About Trauma and ADHD

Trauma is everywhere. It’s on our TikTok feeds, in every self-help book, and it’s practically the third wheel in conversations with friends. It’s kind of amazing that we’re even talking about it. We’re naming the patterns, breaking generational cycles, and giving ourselves permission to heal. That’s huge. But sometimes, the very thing that’s supposed to set us free can also keep us stuck. When trauma becomes the lens we view everything through, it can quietly morph into an excuse—a reason to stay in the past instead of fully living in the present. This episode isn’t about shaming you for processing your pain. Your pain is valid. Your trauma is real. But if you’re still clinging to that old narrative as the reason why you’re stuck, it might be time to let it go. Not because it didn’t matter—but because you matter more. In this episode, you’ll learn about: The ‘Trauma trap': viewing everything through a trauma lens (2:00)How trauma can become a distraction from living in the present (2:43)Questioning when processing past trauma becomes a barrier to present living (5:01)Using trauma as an excuse for not moving forward (5:34)The need for personal accountability (9:51)Living in the present as an 'inner Adult' (10:49)The importance of ownership and controlling what's in one's power (11:37)Exploring re-traumatization through old belief systems (12:52) Wildly Different Question of the Week: What part of your story is holding you back?
